December

So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find...and the wedding hall was filled with guests.  -Matthew 22:10

Among other activities, going back in time to 2012, we had the opportunity to facilitate outreaches in the streets.  I was amazed, once again, to see how God is calling all people to Himself and how desperate we are for Him.

Let us all be a part of inviting guests in to fill the wedding hall up!

Training Ixtapaluca, northern D.F.

Here we are presenting a Children`s ministry training for a church in northern D.F.  As part of the training, we prepared a gospel lesson with the leaders and rehearsed it with them.  We then went into the streets, inviting the children and their families to come to the activity.  The attendees were touched by the power of God.

Teaching about object lessons: using everyday objects to present biblical truths.

Preparing our hearts with God`s heart for children.

Not only the children were touched but also their parents.

The kids listening to the lesson on God`s great exchange for us!

The team from this church after we had a kid`s outreach in the street.

Youth Service, Chabacano, central D.F.

In this church we`re leading a youth service- with the focus on friendship.  In small groups the participants presented short dramas to demonstrate how they could set aside their own interests and focus on those of others.

Breaking the ice with some team-building activities.

Commiting  to take the same attitude of Christ Jesus- a servant- in order that those around us see Him in us.

Christmas Outreach, Estado de Mexico

A Christmas skit in which gifts, the yummy food, and Santa all claim to be the best part of Christmas.  At the end, Jesus enters to claim His rightful place as the center.
A church in Estado de Mexico invited us to help with an outreach activity during the Christmas season.  Children and their parents lined the street to hear the good news of Jesus` great exchange: our sins for His eternal love and life. Most of those who came were not believers or members of the church. Afterwards they thanked us and asked when service times were.

Christmas Outreach, Santa Maria, D.F.

Another church wanted to have a children`s outreach for their community and asked us to lead it.  We taught a team of children dramas to present in the lesson-- teaching them that they can be a part of ministry as well.

The children praying for their parents.

Training and Preaching in Columbus, OH

Dulce Refugio is a Spanish-speaking church in Columbus.  When we were home for Christmas, we had the opportunity to share with them-- providing a training for the children`s workers and preaching on Sunday.

Xaume teaching the congregation about the importance of children`s ministry.

Blessing the kids.

Praise God for His power to work through us. Thank you for your prayers and support.  Each one of you is a blessed to us and to all those around you.

In order to best continue testifying to God`s work here in Mexico, through Xaume and I, please send in your preference: continue the blog or send an email newsletter.  Thank you!

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
