A Man of Faith

“and we are confident and satisfied to be out of the body and at home with the Lord.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬

Juan Jaime Bueno: January 21, 1948- January 24, 2026

Xaume’s dad parted suddenly for his home with the Lord. Though we had seen a steep decline in his health and mobility, we didn’t know it would come this quickly. We honor his life as a man of faith, who treasured the Word, intercession, spiritual warfare and worship. He loved to laugh and keep up with the news. A dear friend to Xau, a father who loved him “as his own,” we will miss his regaños (scolding) and hugs
He loved his grandkids, and was very proud of each of them. We were proud of them as they helped unload the Operation Christmas Child boxes this December. The Crece team facilitated three outreach events where kids and families received this free gift from the Father and heard about the greatest gift: a relationship with Him.

In Tulpetlac, Ecatepec, Jaime’s hometown, Xau and workers installed two baños at Crece church. They got shelving to convert the old restroom into a nice storage room to create a tidier space for the kids’ classroom.

Saturday Zoom training seminar for the children’s ministry at a church in Mexico City. They were very grateful for the input and foundations to continue to grow.

This time in Ohio has been a kind of sabbatical and preparation. Kids have continued to homeschool, with Grandma and Grandpa as guest teachers, we've had dear time with family and friends, done some logistical work and preparation, and had a space to reflect, pray, and prepare as we step towards the transition of moving.  Please continue to pray for His leading in each decision. More than anything else, we're asking for His glory.
Before leaving Mexico, we did get a second opinion for Malakai. Praise God, the doctor did not foresee surgery as necessary but but rather prescribed a therapeutic technique.

Xau had an epic journey to get home during the snow storm, but miraculously was able to be there for the majority of the wake (which lasts about 24 hours). We were so thankful to have community come together in that time of need - many from Crece. God surprised us, working and ordaining, even through the pain of loss. Our friend and co-laborer Yon presented the message of eternal life and even though some family members stepped out at that time, several stayed and received!
Thank you, everyone for your prayers and encouragement. It means the world. We continue to be in awe of God’s goodness. May our lives be filled with more of Him every day.

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
