New Year's Goodness

Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him. -- Psalm 34:8

Wild how life takes you sometimes.  January is over and I didn't even realize when it started.  In those moments of whirlwind or frustration or disappointment, one thing is true: God is good.

I see why that classic creed "God is good all the time; and, All the time, God is good" is so often repeated.  It's true. Doesn't matter what's happening.  He is good. Try it next time.  Just tell yourself, "God is good all the time" over and over until you are convinced that whatever fails you in this life, it's not Him.

I know. Here the three kings are a big deal.  January sixth is King's Day.

Mom and Dad were here to celebrate the new year with us- and my birthday :) Thanks Mom and Dad!!
A few days after their visit, Xaume's parents had some sudden health trouble and spent a week in the hospital.  But praise God they are doing better and recuperating well.

Here's Xaume sharing at one of the youth services.  We continue serving as sub-directors for the youth and are preparing for a mission trip in March.

Leon, Guanajuato -- about five hours northwest of Mexico City.
While Xaume spent two weeks teaching in Leon, Guanajuato, I stayed with my in-laws and kept up with classes at Rhema Bible Institute.

New Testament Class - for the new Rhema campus in Leon.
One of the students in Leon runs a school where Xaume taught a lesson challenging the kids to "Go into all the world" with the Good News!

To close the month, we were invited to present an outreach lesson on respect.  This is a kind of isolated community where a church we know is beginning a cell group.  The people were very receptive and thanked us for coming- even though one of the city authorities came to tell them that what we were teaching the kids was "not good."  Our lesson was: Love your neighbor as your self.

Praying to receive Jesus.

Pray for the families of this neighborhood to have hunger for God and come to learn more about Him at the mission.

This is the Pastor of the church we are working with sharing with one of the women from the community.

That concludes our entry for this month.  Thank you for taking time to view our update.  We'd love to hear from you too!  Our prayer requests: God's grace and favor as we move into the next months and open doors for His message!

May He astound you with His goodness!

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
