April Adventures

Therefore, you should pray like this:
Our Father in heaven,
Your name be honored as holy.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
--Matthew 6:9-10

This is one of the lovely landscapes from our trip to Michoacan (see farther below).

As I finish my studies at Rhema Bible Institute, one of the joys for me has been singing in worship.  Here we are at a special conference week called "Meet Rhema." It's one week of classes in which those who are not enrolled as students can attend and get a taste of what it's all about.

This inner city church "Life in Fullness" is eager to build it's children's ministry.  They invited Xaume to give a training.  The power of planting God's Word in a little one's life is often underestimated.  We strive to equip others with methods that will make their teaching more effective.

In steamy Cuautla, Morelos, a state south of the D.F., Xaume preached on prayer.  How essential it is that we take time to be with our Father- not only pouring our hearts out to Him, but listening to His voice.

In Ixtapaluca, a zone of much poverty and drug use, the pastors of this church are dedicated to reach the community every week.  They welcomed Xaume to preach at this Wednesday evening service, encouraging the faithful believers to stand firm.

Our last trip of the month-- destination: Michoacan.  This state, directly west of the Federal District (crossing the State of Mexico) is known for it's mafia "The Family."  But we know that where we go, God goes with us and his angels camp around us.

We were excited to receive this invitation of coordinating a youth camp.  Although we were in an agricultural area with seemingly few houses, there are many youth who need to know God.

While there are several small churches in the surrounding towns, not one of the youth had ever attended a camp before.  Those who were timid at first were begging not to leave.

Over the weekend, these teens made new friends, faced obstacle courses, took time in personal devotion with God, and received a series of preachings about their purpose in Him.

It was quite a rustic campout, but we were happy to sow into these lives.  Pray with us for each young person to continue to grow in his walk with the Lord- setting an example in speech, life, love, faith and purity. (1 Timothy 4:12)

This challenge not only left the kids filthy- it made them identify their life goal and believe in achieving it!

Besides preaching and planning, Xaume's really good at making sure there's time for silly games!

Here's me preaching on 1 Timothy 4:12 :)

What's camp without a campfire? Even if it's under the shelter.

Time for personal reading: Psalms chapter 1

Reading 2 Timothy 1:6-8!

The "string of life" teaches kids that even when they can't see, God has a purpose ahead.

We finished out the camp dancing in worship!

Thank you once again!  We so value your prayers and support.  If you like maps, try visiting this link to our journey's throughout Mexico:

We send our love to each of you!

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
