Great Expectations

For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not My ways...For as heaven is higher than earth, so My ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9

Mexico City dawn.

We're expectant.  Expectant for God to continue revealing His purpose and His plans.  It's invigorating being back in this sunny city packed with people.  But the urgency for His message seems even more pressing!

(Just FYI this is another speaker, not Wayne Myers.)

At this conference, called Uno (One), life-long missionary Wayne Myers urged us to remember Jesus' words in John 17:21- to be one...so that the world may believe. Mexican church, unite for His glory!  God's word is the best challenge for the new year.

And, for two weeks, we got to be a part of sharing the challenge with these students from a bible college north of Mexico City.  Xaume taught a class about sharing The Message with youth.  Young people remind us that we're looking for identity, purpose, and relationship.  Christ offers the best answer to all three.

The class I taught focused on the outpouring of our hope, in a word: evangelism.  We like to define evangelism as the manifestation of our relationship with God.   It has to be good news for us first.  It has to be REAL in our own lives.   His love and power need to be evident in us so that His message is credible.

And, a minor detail...we have to talk to people!

We ask for your prayers as Xaume and I scope out a site for Hearts in Action Mexico.   There is a prospective house in the State of Mexico, just north of Mexico City.  That's where we believe God is calling us.

It will enable us to be closer to the areas where we mostly do outreach: colonias like the one in this picture.  Needy places.   Communities God has placed in our hearts.

Since it's completely opposite to where we live now, we are looking for a house for us as well.

If you've been tracking with facebook page "Corazones en Accion, Mexico" you've probably seen recent photos of time with these youngsters.  Our message: share the message.  "For the Son of Man came to seek and save what was lost." [Luke 19:10]

If God has helped you identify your identity, pinpoint your purpose, and realize relationship, don't keep it to yourself.  Your friends, classmates, coworkers and family members are asking the same questions.  Be their friend.  Ask questions.  Listen.  Talk about His answers.

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
