Only His Presence

How lovely is Your dwelling place, Lord of Hosts.  I long and yearn for the courts of the Lord; my heart and flesh cry out for the living God.
Psalm 84:1-2

Only in Your presence O God are we filled!  Thank you that no matter where we are, You wait for us to join You.  Let us meet with You all hours of the day. You alone are worthy!

We got to spend some time with these youngsters from a church called Prince of Peace.  The weekend was filled with team-building rallies, teachings, times of ministry and fun! Although most of the youth are active in the church, for several it was their first time on a retreat.

After getting back from Morelos (where the retreat was), we headed south to Chiapas for a mission trip with a friend of ours named Jesús.  The focus for this trip was children's outreach.  Jesús helped partner us with a local church.  The church contact connected us in different communities in order to share the Good News!

On the 10-hour drive down through Veracruz

The object lesson of God's great exchange with us:  His life for our sins.

The church volunteers were so encouraged and excited by the five-days of outreach.  They want to have continual follow up in these areas.  We pray that they may stand firm and will not loose heart to keep watering the soil.

It just so happened that two young Colombian missionaries were visiting the church this same week.  They were a great help!
Thank you God for this awesome time sharing Your Word.  Let these seeds grow!  Raise faithful ones to lead them in the Truth.

After the Chiapas trip, we finally had a chance to catch up and catch our breath back here in the city.  We even got to get away a few days with Xau's family for a restful weekend. Thank you God for rest!

Yay :) Then, this last weekend we had the opportunity to do some outreach here in the city.  We were in a tough area about 30 minutes from home.  This pastor is just starting a church, so we were glad to be a part of getting the Word out in the neighborhood.

From Friday to Sunday, we did outreach lessons in the community.   However, getting a group of kids together wasn't as easy as some places outside the city.  Here many parents would not let their children attend.

There are a lot of immigrants from Central America living in this area, and many of them have had (still have) a rough life. A member of the church told us that it's also an area where witchcraft is widely practiced.

We praise God for those who did come; and we pray for Pastor Luis and the vision to reach this area for Jesus' Name! May His power and protection permeate these lives.

Thank you all for reading, interceding, supporting and loving us! We have a specific prayer request as we leave tomorrow (Sunday) for a special, step-of-faith trip to Peru.

Yazna works with Bible translation and recording in different people groups in the Amazon.
Xaume's sister Yazna is a missionary in Iquitos, and we have wanted to go visit her for some time now.  Hearts in Action also has a base in Lima, so we get to spend a week with them and a week with Yazna!

Please pray as the Spirit leads.
Here are a few requests:

  • Safe travels (we have several stops along the way)
  • Luggage ease (we want to be able to bless Yazna with some Mexican treats and no issues with customs)
  • Protection from sickness (no bad mosquitos)
  • For the Hearts in Action team in Peru to be encouraged by our time together
  • For Yazna to be blessed and encouraged by our time together
  • For provision and most of all:
  • That Jesus' Name be exalted in all that we do!

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
