December

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour.
Luke 1:46-47

Feliz Navidad and the best new year!!!  We are now here in Ohio visiting for the season - enjoying a wonderful time of refreshment with family, friends and sharing Liam.  As we close the year, here´s what´s been happening in December.

On our trip to San Luis Potosí (6 hours north) we got to record another video blog and spend an evening doing a missions-focused lesson with the kids.  The church, Agape, invited us to be a part of their missions Wakeup weekend.

We got to share a workshop about missions, and here below Yazna (Xau´s sister) is sharing in her workshop!  It was so fun and encouraging to be able to spend time with her as she was visiting Mexico this month.  She is a powerful witness.

The main speaker for the weekend was Marcos Schultz, a well-known missionary (dressed below in a Japanese kimono) to Mexico who has travelled world-wide.  What a privilege to meet and minister with him.

El Callejón (the Alley) is an outreach ministry this church in San Luis has been doing for about a year.  They go each Saturday to teach these kids downtown. It´s a tough area known for violence.  With the Agape team, we did a special Christmas lesson and were able to close by ministering in prayer. One girl, Yadira, asked for specific prayer for economic needs to be able to go to school. Her father is addicted to drugs and both parents worship Saint Death - a dark and growing movement in Mexico.

Please keep these kids specifically in prayer - for the power and protection of Jesus! Pray for breakthrough since many parents do not allow their kids to go, since they know they will hear about Jesus.  Also keep the Agape team in prayer, that they be covered by His blood and have strength and endurance.

In Mexico, the last activity for the year was a Christmas lesson at this church meeting.  Conquering Frontiers (the church) normally holds three services on Sundays, but to close their year they held one big service off site. And we got to help minister to the little ones!

Around 400 kids, ages 5-11 gathered to worship together and be reminded of the origin of Christmas - the Saviour´s arrival on earth!  Hearts in Action Peru had written a time-travel drama that we got to implement here in Mexico.  It starts with the search for how Christmas began and two kids traveling back in time to the Fall, ancient Egypt, Nineveh and finally, Bethlehem!

Our big project that week- creating this time machine!

Liam even got to have his debut as baby Jesus!

It was a powerful time together as we closed, asking God for more of His Spirit as we choose to follow Him.  After praying with the kids, we encouraged them to take some time praying for one another.   Keep these young ones lifted up!  That they may continue to press into His presence and encounter Him as Lord and Friend every day.

For the year´s close, I wanted to include some brief info on the doors God has opened for His Word through us this year.  Our biggest request is that His Glory be manifest more and more in Mexico starting in the lives of the young generations!

Our love and blessings to you in the Name of Jesus!
Happy 2017!!!
Xau, Anna & Liam

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
