Three Twelfths: March

If you...know how to give good gifts to your children, ow much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Matthew 7:11

Liam is a whole year old!  By God's goodness and miraculous provision we got to wish him "Happy Birthday" in Cancun with both sets of grandparents.  It truly was unexpected and unforgettable.

My dad just "happened" to get invited to a work seminar in Cancun, and therefore they just "happened" to get their airfare covered for extended dates... That, paired with mom and dad's generosity, made it possible for them to book a place for us all to stay for a few days, one of which just so "happened" to be Liam's birthday!  Amazing. Just. God.

It was hard to leave of course.  But, just upon our return to the city a friend of ours, Bruce, came to visit for about two weeks!

We managed to take him a few places around the city, and he was willing to help with all kinds of tasks - including  accompanying Xaume to his class at Rhema, doing maintenance on one of our computers, taking pictures with us at a wedding and much more.

Speaking of the Rhema class, we finished teaching Intro to Children's Ministry early in the month and then, Xaume taught another eight classes of Intro to Youth Ministry.  Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of him teaching, but I taught one of the Youth Ministry classes, so...that's why it's me here.

Oh, yes.  Remember how I wrote about our storage area last month?  Well, it's not done yet, but here are some pictures of the project's progression.

Some of the building materials...

Phase 1: Here's pretty much how it was when we first started - right after paving two side passageways (you can just see it here in the picture above.)

Phase 2: Clearing out the space; cement work on walls, door frame, steps and window; and wooden door on one end (you can just barely see it on the far left in the last picture).

Phase 3: Getting rid of lots of unneeded items (i.e. throwing out trash), painting the space, grouping things into boxes, building this side rock wall, etc.

Thank you for praying for this project. It's still underway (more sorting, lighting, glass window, other door, etc) but is a big improvement.

We gave our fourth and final training with the Rhema Bible Church Mexico's children's teachers - the emphasis of the seminar being kids and missions!  Very exciting and always challenging to be reminded together of the Great Commission.

It's been a busy month.   As we plan and prepare for summer projects, we've also been getting ready for a mission group from Michigan which comes in tomorrow - very excited!

Being a whirlwind month is good in many ways, but it's also a challenge to keep priorities straight.  We are enjoying Liam of course, and want to protect our family time.  But above all, we want to stay connected to the Vine.  All our diligence is in vain if He's not directing it.  Please pray for us to stay close to Him and listen to His voice every step of the way.

All our love.

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
