Five Twelfths: May

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning...
- Lamentations 3:22-23

Off the bat this month, we want to recognize two awesome people: Gustavo and Jesus.  Gustavo, from Venezuela, now living with his family here in Mexico as refugees, has been serving as part of the Hearts in Action Mexico team for the past couple months.

Jesus, a seasoned missionary friend for the past several years recently joined us as well!  They are currently working with us once a week.  We praise God for their lives, their experience and are praying that they can continue to use their gifts to His glory.  (I´ll indicate who they are in pictures further below.)

For Mother´s Day I was invited to share at this women´s dinner.  It was a church we have never worked with before, and an honor to challenge these moms (and myself) to put aside all the rushing and reeling and to seek Jesus as Mary did.

Mario and Suzanne Babarczy, founders of Hearts in Action, are moving from Ohio back to Guatemala.  Due to the immense amount of work required, they flew Xaume up to help.  This gave me the excuse to make a surprise visit home for Mother´s Day.  Thanks Mom and Dad for helping out with this trip!  (I hope to see more of you next time! This was just such a short visit I really focused on family.)

Here above is Jesus (For those of you who don´t speak Spanish, pronounced "Hey-soos").  He and Xaume facilitated a Creative Impact training for children´s ministry.  We´ve partnered with this church in different areas over the past few years and continue praying for their leaders as the church grows.

Gustavo and his wife filled in for us (which, by the way is WONDERFUL to have backup) at a mother-child weekend this month.  And they served another whole weekend last month at a kids´camp for the same church.    Praise God for the breakthrough and unity that is taking place in these families.

Here´s Gus below.  Both he and Jesus taught at our first training session for Twist Kids´ Club.  Please keep praying for wisdom and provision as we work on preparations for the inauguration at the end of the month.

To finish the month, we were invited to a church in San Luis Potosí to do a children´s ministry training, an outreach and the teaching on Sunday morning.  It was a full weekend - with the five-hour drive and all that´s involved in traveling with a toddler.  But, in the end, it was good.  The church was encouraged and challenged to be more active with their children´s ministry and to reach out.

At the outreach several kids prayed to give their lives to Jesus!

The lady here on the far right (along with her daughters) was at the outreach and then came to church on Sunday morning to hear more.  Pray that she will respond to God´s call on her life.

Thank you for reading!  We are so blessed to serve a God whose mercies are great and new every morning.  Please pray for us to have stamina, clarity, unity and joy as we go forward seeking to spend our time on what He would have.

PS Liam is WALKING!

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
