Ten twelfths: October

My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me.
John 10:27

As seasons come and go, as we reflect and seek God's heart for steps ahead, He reminds us of the great pleasure He takes in us listening to His voice.

Ocosingo, Chiapas

As I've been here visiting Ohio, Xaume has been traveling a bit as well.  He and a pastor friend of ours were ministering down in Chiapas (*see map above) to give a Passing the Torch seminar and to facilitate a kids' outreach.

What we love about teaching Passing the Torch is seeing parents and teachers refreshed by the Word of God and encouraged to continue!  The church in this community said it was the first time they had had any kind of kids' ministry training in that area.

Choose life outreach in Chiapas focused on the choice we have to follow Jesus

Earlier this month we got to share with little little ones!  The kids' conference we were a part of a couple months ago was only for six-year-olds and up.  So this church invited us back to be with the wee ones. From babies and toddlers to five-year-olds, we visited classrooms, sang, and spoke to them about God's purpose for them.

Twist continues this month - we are glad to see new kids each week even though overall attendance does vary. We're praying for the church in this community to rise up and take ownership in loving and teaching these precious ones.

The special guest church this month did a great job with the lesson and took time to share with the moms!

O.H.! Here we are with great grandparents and grandparents.  It's been a wonderful visit - such treasured time together.

Xaume was here by video as we set aside some time to learn about Mexico's spiritual climate and pray together.  Thank you all who were able to come and each of you who prays for this nation.

And, finally, this past weekend, Xaume and the team partnered with a local church west of Mexico City to reach out to kids in the area.  Their objective: celebrate life in Jesus during this season when there is such focus on the death (Day of the Dead is November 2nd).

Thanks once more for reading! We so value you're love, prayers and support.  We'd love to hear from you, too!

Xau and I (and Liam) are looking forward to being back together again soon!  Pray for us to set aside time to listen to God's voice as we're looking towards 2018 and beyond.

We praise God for you!

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...

Treasure

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7 Did anyone see that recent headline about a diver who stumbled upon nearly 50,000 bronze coins? The team also noted fragments of broken pottery.  I thought of this verse - imagining that "treasure" being held in those old earthen vessels. That's the beauty here.  Despite our fragility, God chooses to deposit in us the eternal riches of His Holy Spirit!  Praises: Renovations underway! This room had horrible moisture running through it due to inadequate roofing. Now, with proper paneling, the leakage will be eliminated. After remodeling adjustments for the adjacent room, Hector (full-time intern) will have a bedroom and this taller room will serve as our first church office! It was quite a project, but we're thankful to have a space for him to move into in the next week or two.  The beginning of September we celebrated Crece church's three ye...
