June & July

But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1 Timothy 6:6

Our recent visit to Ohio was a sweet soak-up-family-time kind of trip.  It´s was so refreshing to just get to enjoy people - without too many deadlines.   One of my goals was to see as much of my siblings as possible (love you guys!)  It´s always hard to say goodbye after visits.  But wherever we are, whatever we´re doing, with Him as our God, how can we not be thankful?  (Now my homework is to enjoy people just as much WITH the deadlines!)

Just before the Ohio trip, we had an unexpected mission group come in!  They were just here for a few days, but it was really fun for us.  We always love involving young people in ministry and showing them the city.   Our main ministry day consisted of visiting homes of kids from Twist Kid´s Club and praying for the families.  It always amazes ME to get to be a part of extending God´s love in such a simple way.  We know from the debrief that it was impacting to them as well.

Right: Mother (and daughter) whose husband had just passed away.

One other day event we had before Ohio was ministering "family day" at this Christian school.  Students and parents united for the day in various activities.  The lesson presentation we facilitated focused on the value of asking for forgiveness (especially parents to their children).

Here´s a little Ohio spotlight :)

One highlights: an early first birthday celebration for Malakai.

(Not this picture, but during our visit we got to celebrate my Grandma´s 90th birthday with almost all the family from Dad´s side.)

Upon return - Xaume and our friends Ale & Lalo led this church's first children's worker training. We're very proud of Ale and Lalo stepping up to facilitate. The pastor, Fernando and his wife Miriam are especially enthused to reach the young generations.  In fact, the church is called "New Generation in Christ."

Proud to announce Twist Kids' Club Ixtapaluca (#1) celebrated their two year anniversary!  Hard to believe. They've been very faithful through thick and thin.  Pray for continued renewal in each volunteer's life and especially for the church pastors Paty and Juan who just moved to the neighborhood (they'd previously commuted every weekend to the area.)

Two years meeting almost every Saturday morning!

And...thanks to a special donation, we got treat Twist Kids' Club Chalco (#2) teachers to pizza and new t-shirts at this training seminar.  Pray specifically for each one to protect his or her personal time with God and to bring that reality to the kids.

The month's close has been filled with writing, planning and coordinating upcoming events (kids' conference at Conquering Frontiers church and youth leader seminar in Leon Guanajuato).  But we also had a special invitation to each speak at Grace, Love and Communion Church's youth camp.

Oh! And finally, here's Liam participating in one of the VBS activities at Twist Kids' Club Jaltenco site.  Pastor Gerard and Sharon had to switch facilities due to a difference of opinion, but we were glad to see kids coming!

Learning to be thankful everyday...

Thank you for loving us and believing in God's call for our lives. We believe in each of yours.

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...

Treasure

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7 Did anyone see that recent headline about a diver who stumbled upon nearly 50,000 bronze coins? The team also noted fragments of broken pottery.  I thought of this verse - imagining that "treasure" being held in those old earthen vessels. That's the beauty here.  Despite our fragility, God chooses to deposit in us the eternal riches of His Holy Spirit!  Praises: Renovations underway! This room had horrible moisture running through it due to inadequate roofing. Now, with proper paneling, the leakage will be eliminated. After remodeling adjustments for the adjacent room, Hector (full-time intern) will have a bedroom and this taller room will serve as our first church office! It was quite a project, but we're thankful to have a space for him to move into in the next week or two.  The beginning of September we celebrated Crece church's three ye...
