August 19

Since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds.
2 Corinthians 10:4

I chose this as the verse of the day for Thursday of the kids' conference.  Every year, Conquering Frontiers church holds a congress just for kids, and this year the title was "Land of Giants-" focusing on God's power in us to defeat giants in our lives: specifically, fear, loneliness and rejection.  It was a privilege and challenge to not only coordinate the workshops (where the kids break into smaller groups), but also to do one of the teachings.

The weeks leading up to "Land of Giants" were packed.  Writing out lessons, writing curriculum, calculating the list of materials, recording tutorial videos for all the volunteers, editing and posting the videos, buying supplies and dividing them out...then the actual days of the conference: setting up spaces, coordinating volunteers and preparing materials - to name a few.

There were, as always, lots of details that didn't go as planned, but overall it was a good time.  Each station focused on the verse for the day - rotating between the object lesson/teaching, memory verse game and ministry response activity.  One hour each day. Thirty-six lead teachers. One hundred tables. Nine-hundred kids, ages six to 11.

Kids' Conference Day 2: Anna's Teaching

Meanwhile, Xaume was busy preparing for visiting Pastor Howard's youth leader conference in Leon (northern state) and out of town on a week-long trip to Chiapas  (southern state).  In Chiapas: youth camp preaching and rally, all-day children's worker training and Sunday preaching.

What did conference prep entail? Publicity design and printing, a promotional trip, scheduling, plane tickets, coordinating with the host church, writing the schedule, book sale prep, etc.

The conference was today.  Praise God it went well and was well attended!

At Twist Ixtapaluca we did a training day pizza party for the teachers, and Twist Chalco did an outreach today at another site.  We're very proud of both (and the other Twists, of course) as they've persevered and impacted the lives of hundreds of kids.  Pray that each leader can encounter God's heart every day and hence gain stamina and renewal.  (Also, we're praying for ways to do micro-business to make them more self-sustainable.)

AAAAnnnd...we decided it was time for Liam to start preschool.  We know he's little, but it has been a great way for him to channel his energy, have structure, and give us some time in the day to work (and be with Malakai) so that our time with Liam can be more intentional.

Other news from the month...
 -  Malakai got a great report from his check up at the hospital (they're just going to do one last electroencephalogram to confirm everything's good)
- We went on a two-day get-away with Xau's mom
- We recorded and posted a new video on our YouTube channel!

Help us pray for more volunteers & ways to support them.

Thanks for reading, once again! Please drop us a line : )
We love you.  You're in our prayers.

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
