September 19

But our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Philippians 3:20

Praise God all of Malakai´s check-ups at the hospital have been positive! He´s doing great. (Just pray that he´ll sleep through the nights!)

Since September is Mexico´s Independence "month," we were invited to do a lesson at his school.  The verse we focused the lesson on was Philippians 3:20. We get to celebrate being citizens of an eternal kingdom!

Liam is doing very well at pre-school.  He's had some learning curves, but overall he's loving it.

In the picture below we're facilitating a children's leader training with a church mission in Cuajimalpa - an area on the outskirts of the city where we've never worked before.  They were very thankful for the input.  Two young ladies who are the children's leaders at another church attended and said they recognized us from our Youtube videos!

I finally went to play and sing in worship at the hospital this month.  It's always inspiring.  Afterward, several kids came over to try their hand at the keys. I got to meet and encourage these girls (L- Joselín R- Aida) who were especially interested.

As we get ready for a conference in October, part of the planning involves collaborating with two other Children´s ministries who´ll be participating with us: Ventanita (a well-known Christian clown act) and Superbook - the t.v. show.

We also had the privilege this month of teaching the trans-cultural ministry class at one of the Rhema Bible Institute campuses.  Xau´s been teaching the morning session and I´ve been teaching in the evenings.

A couple quick testimonies:

1.
Angelica grew up in Huautla, Oaxaca - in the neighborhood where the Twist Kids´ Club now meets.  She was just a girl when Xau and I went for the first time seven years ago to do children´s outreaches.

This month as we took her to her passport appointment, she recounted to me how she remembers being interested and a bit uncertain about why we would dance and sing. But, little-by-little she was moved by God´s Word and accepted Christ personally.

Now, as the leader of Twist Kids´ Club, Huautla, she´s going to attend to the two-week "Great Commission Training" in Guatemala.  Pray that she´ll be empowered as never before during this trip and thereafter; that she may continue her calling to reach out to many more children who find themselves needing that encounter with Jesus.

2.
Joel was invited to Twist Kids´ Club by the pastor of the church in Valle de Chalco.  Being older than the general age range for Twist (15) and showing much interest and willingness, he soon became one of the volunteers.  His mom tells us she noticed a big change in him.

This drew her attention.  She then started to talk with Judith, the Twist leader, and decided to dedicate her life to the Lord as well.  Wanting to be a part of sharing God´s work in the area, they offered their house as the site to do the outreach last month. Pray that Joel´s family (and many more!) will be fortified in Spirit and in Truth. May God´s glory break through the vast darkness that seems to invade these sectors.

Final story.  A church in Tláhuac (southeast borough of the city), invited us to minister to the children while the adults had a special prayer conference.  During both sessions the kids were particularly rowdy.  BUT, as Xaume and Jesus ended the second lesson, they took time to encourage the kids to pray.  Specifically, they challenged the kids to cry out to God personally, that their faith didn´t depend on their parents´ faith.

There was a breakthrough in the Spirit like we haven´t seen for a while: weeping, loud outcries, interceding for the other children, laying and kneeling in worship, etc.  One of the boys who´d been the most restless during the lessons was broken, crying in a corner.  Pray that God seal the work done that day and that every day He awaken each child to the reality of who He is.

GRACIAS for reading, praying, supporting and loving on us. It means the world.

We do ask for specific prayer for the Choose Life lessons this month and next around the Day of the Dead celebrations.  He who is in us is GREATER than he who is in the world!

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
