January 2020

Let Your work be seen by Your servants,
and Your splendor by their children.
Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us;
establish for us the work of our hands -
establish the work of our hands!
- Psalm 90:16-17

It´s been a month full of learning! Lots of teaching on both of our parts - hence the deeper learning.  We were honored that Xau was invited to give a three-hour seminar at this Christian book store downtown.  Almost 200 children´s leaders and teachers attended the book promotion conference.  It wasn´t any book of ours (maybe someday!), but it was their effective strategy.
(Book: Louie Giglio´s Indescribable: Devotions for Kids About God and Science)
Praise God we got a lot of thanks and good feedback from the attendees (we only knew about a handful of them). Plus on their notecards they shared other topics we can consider developing and sharing in the future.
The Samaritan´s Purse Operation Christmas Child boxes are always such a blessing.  Here are just a couple shots from two of the clubs hand-out day. In Chalco (below) this is a new outreach group separate from Twist Kids´ Club.
Teaching classes at two Bible institutes has stretched our schedule a bit this month, but has been enriching as well.  Xau here teaching "Ministry and Cultures" while I taught "Teaching and Communication."  That was two mornings a week.  Now I´m almost done teaching "Prayer Principles" three evenings a week at Rhema.  It´s been an empowering reminder to dedicate ourselves this year to prayer.
Of course we got to celebrate January birthdays (mine, Xau´s Mom´s and Dad´s) which was fun :)
And as for the closet I mentioned we were thankful to get it in this month!  What an answer to prayer and help as we continue to try to make the most of the apartment space.

Psalm 90 was the passage Xau preached on at Rhema Encinos Church one Sunday.  He closed the time ministering to the youth - encouraging them to cry out to encounter the Father.
Conquering Frontiers Church coordinated an outreach at a school in an impoverished rural area.  Xau directed the lesson portion of the event freely sharing the gospel message.
Last new news: this month Xau started taking his animation classes at a design school here in the city. Drawing has been a long-term passion of his, so we took the step of faith to go for it. We´re asking God to give him ideas and abilities in order to use this gift for the kingdom!

Thank you so much for reading. We´re honored to be a part of your lives.  Please pray for supernatural health for all of us and for clarity to move according to the Father´s heart.  Sending our love!

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
