May 2020

Don´t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.
And the PEACE of God, which surpasses every thought, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 4:6-7

Talk about a virtual month!  From recording video lessons and teachings, to filming others, to acting, to lots of zoom meetings, and taking free online clases I´m sure many of you, like us are a bit worn out on screen time. But, we´ll make the most of it...

I wrote and recorded this lesson for Conquering Frontiers kids´ church. It´s amazing how many hours it takes to write a script and record for a production that lasts just a few minutes! :

Xau filming a kids´  lesson at Faith Center Ajusco church:
Zoom has been very useful of course: prayer times, sharing the Word, catch-up time, vision casting, resource training, planning and filming - to name a few...:
A pastor friend of ours in Oaxaca asked Xau to record a teaching for his church. The internet there isn´t working so they´ve engineered a creative plan.  Congregant Uriel takes the USB with the 20 min. teaching house-to-house and helps the family set it up to view, waits the duration of the video and then takes the USB to the next house! Now, that´s dedication.:

Xau spent one whole day directing and participating in one of the lessons for Rhema Bible Church Kids´ program. He´s been working closely with the children´s director to write lessons, scripts and a calendar of lesson topics.:

A big praise!: During this quarantine we´ve been able to invest in the remodeling/construction of an apartment below the parking lot at our complex.  Ciro - our neighbor and friend (the same one who comes to Bible study on Wednesdays) is a construction worker.  He´s done lots of jobs for us.  Precisely due to COVID he was going to be out of work.

But thankfully, we were able to offer him the job!  He has been working hard all of April and all but one week of May.  Yazna, Xau´s sister, is an architect by profession and made the blueprints for the whole project.  The space will consist of a kitchenette, bathroom, bedroom / living area and closet. In the two collages below you can see the progression (upper left is how it was; bottom right of the second collage is what it looks like now.)

The vision for now is to have a place for visitors, mission groups and AirBnB guests.  Ciro is working this week on the water, gas and electric installations. It´s been a goal of ours since last year, and we´re thankful for how God has multiplied our resources (through you!) to make it possible.  We´re also so happy to have been able to offer some work to Ciro during this time.

For those of you wondering, the pregnancy is going well, praise God.  I just had some routine blood work done and everything looks good.  I do get tired at times and am trying to take it a bit easier :) Oh, and if you hadn´t heard: it´s a GIRL!

Thank you for being so incredibly faithful.  Can´t wait to visit you in December-January (I guess it will be here before we know it). Love and prayers.

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
