December 2021

Across the city and through the streets...

Carlos (backpack) immediately asked if I was American and spoke English. He then proceeded to introduce himself as Charlie.

From that moment until we walked them to their doorstep, he and sister Yanet (purple) asked me to translate all the words they could think of into English.

I'd forgotten the curiosity foreigner-me causes in certain parts of the city. Meeting them was definitely a highlight of my month.

Honored to gift shoes to these little ones in a shanty-town where a Twist group meets. Visiting was super sweet - especially with tag-along Gracie.

Other news from the month...

A training seminar for children's workers

Still awaiting copyright registry for the Twist Volume 1 Manual as we continue to fundraise the publishing cost.

Praying and saving for...

- A new vehicle for our family

Hauling toy donations, Operation Christmas Child boxes, and three kids around leaves us thinking we've probably outgrown our sedan.  BUT we do like having it for city trips like taking the boys to school. So, we're saving up for an additional vehicle.

AND

-Transportation (a combi-bus would be great!) for Twist Chalco

Every week they move around and carry all the materials including food and tents on motorbike taxis. It is NOT easy.  Plus, having a vehicle to bring kids and the team in would be amazing.

A wonderful new year awaits us... for if God is for us, who can be against us?

Thanks for viewing! We'd love to hear from you!

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...

Treasure

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7 Did anyone see that recent headline about a diver who stumbled upon nearly 50,000 bronze coins? The team also noted fragments of broken pottery.  I thought of this verse - imagining that "treasure" being held in those old earthen vessels. That's the beauty here.  Despite our fragility, God chooses to deposit in us the eternal riches of His Holy Spirit!  Praises: Renovations underway! This room had horrible moisture running through it due to inadequate roofing. Now, with proper paneling, the leakage will be eliminated. After remodeling adjustments for the adjacent room, Hector (full-time intern) will have a bedroom and this taller room will serve as our first church office! It was quite a project, but we're thankful to have a space for him to move into in the next week or two.  The beginning of September we celebrated Crece church's three ye...
