Jump-in July

Keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne. {Hebrews 12:2}

This month was FULL.  Too busy, yes. And though it involved quite sufficient stress and moments of tension, the goal of "jumping into" the new site work was worth it. (As always, we just have to keep working on the balance ...)

After all the hard work and nerves of how things would go, we've seen God's hand at work, and that brings us SUCH GREAT JOY.

Here's a quick recap:

 - First month of activities at the new Twist site in Ecatepec! (An outreach, the Inauguration, two lessons from the manual and special guests from HCC!)

- Continued renovation of the Twist space (cement flooring in the courtyard, painting, clearing out)

- Kai & Liam finished their school year with a concert and awards ceremony!

- Preparation for and hosting of the first mission trip from Heritage! (They were awesome! It was a wonderful week of home visits and children's outreach.)

- Celebrated Kai's FOURTH birthday :)

- Celebrated our TENTH wedding anniversary!

- Oh, and we took the step of faith making a down payment on a second car! Praise God.

News and prayer:

As we encounter more families at the new Twist site, we see how timely His call is. IT IS A SPIRITUAL BATTLE. We've met several families searching for truth and hungry for the God's Word. God had given me the picture of rebuilding His Body as Nehemiah rebuilt the wall. We are seeing it.

Pray for more divine encounters and for wisdom in how to best disciple these dear ones and counteract all the confusion and oppression in the area.

Yes, it's been big investment financially with all the renovations, etc., and it's definitely stretched me to the max. But it's all HIS anyway, and we know that as we sow into His harvest field, we'll never lack anything.

Testimonies:

1. In the visits to Twist kids' homes, one Grandma told us how her grandson didn't know how to read before going to club. She, being illiterate, couldn't help him out, but after going to Twist, and learning Bible verses, he's now reading!

2. At another home we visited, the mom was very grateful for how her kids have learned to practice prayer at Twist. They pray for provision and work for their family, and they've seen Him provide! That day when we handed them the grocery bag, tears came to her eyes in gratitude for the miracle - they had nothing to eat.

Home visits in Ixtapaluca: this faith-filled boy who goes to Twist wept as we prayed over his family.

Gospel skit followed by testimonies at the new Twist site in Ecatepec *notice how nice the floor looks :)

We got to celebrate Kai in different ways all week, but we finally got to go take our sweet animal-lover to this safari-type park!

Grace rockin' it in the new Honda

As we go forward, we can cling to the promise and evidence we've seen, that HE will do it. All we have to do is step out in obedience.

Thank you for being our family! God encourages our hearts through each of you! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Financial update:

We are continually raising support as the family and ministry grow.  Now, we are about 1,000 dollars away from reaching our monthly personal support goal. Anything additional to that goes to ministry work (specifically: volunteer team support, Twist clubs, publishing, webpage development, outreach, etc.)

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
