Sink-or-swim September

Happy September 16th! Mexico's Independence Day

It wasn't exactly the quiet month I was hoping for, but it has been rewarding.
As the newest Twist Kids' Club (that we're spearheading) continues, we finally made the jump this month to invite parents & adults from the community to Sunday morning meetings: the start of our first church plant.

Currently, our Sundays start with an oral Bible story dynamic and then, after singing a couple songs, Xau teaches on that same passage.

The uncertainty of it all has been tough: not knowing if anyone will show up, wondering if it's worth it, sensing the oppression of strongholds we're up against, etc.
BUT, we've persevered through the first month and are expectant. We're overjoyed to have had the privilege of seeing two people accept Jesus into their lives!  And, despite the challenges, getting to pour into this small group week-to-week has been meaningful.
Jose, (brings his daughter to Twist) is very hungry and excited about what he's learning.  He faithfully comes every Saturday and Sunday and shares as he is able with his wife and co-workers.

He testified with tears to the difference it's made in his life, these past months: now he comes home to hug and kiss his wife and tell her that he loves her.

Celebrating Independence Day at Twist with typical dish pozole!

Pray with us for this group to be fortified in power (both Twist and Crece - the name for the church, meaning "grow.")
The way we see it, these first ones are those who will lead. Pray for us to maintain God's heart and perspective always - sticking to His Word and following the Holy Spirit.

We were excited (and busy getting ready for) another parent and children's ministry all-day training.  More than 50 attendees from various churches came to get bases and practical tips for sowing God's Word in the lives of young ones.

Thankfully, we sold more copies of the Twist Manual! Really the market for Sunday school materials is lacking in Mexico, so we're honored for people to use it for that too - outreach or discipleship.

Other News from the Month:

This year we have not added to the tutorial webpage as we would have liked, so finally we made the effort to fly-in a musician/vocal coach friend of ours. Xau recorded Chuy's course in vocal training that we'll be able to upload to the page in October. (Link to Tenacity webpage: click here )

Training at a church start-up. The pastors are encouraging these couples to take children's ministry seriously - both at home and at church.

I had to throw in this picture of the boys at the drink stand for Mexican Night celebration at their new school.

Have to have a shot of Grace too :)

Thanks for thanking the time to read this! Thank you for being watchful in prayer with us! Thank you for being there or us.

Our financial update: we are still fundraising for both our personal support and ministerial goals. Our ministry  funding currently comes out of our personal support, so we’d like to have a separate budget just for ministry.
With 1000 dollars more monthly we’ll have reached our minimum personal budget goal. For ministry we’re looking to raise at least another 1000 dollars monthly.

We include all this to thank all who have partnered with us financially, and to invite others into the joy of sowing and reaping. We don’t want anyone to feel pressure to give, rather are simply making the need known. :)

Blessings to each of you!

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...

Treasure

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7 Did anyone see that recent headline about a diver who stumbled upon nearly 50,000 bronze coins? The team also noted fragments of broken pottery.  I thought of this verse - imagining that "treasure" being held in those old earthen vessels. That's the beauty here.  Despite our fragility, God chooses to deposit in us the eternal riches of His Holy Spirit!  Praises: Renovations underway! This room had horrible moisture running through it due to inadequate roofing. Now, with proper paneling, the leakage will be eliminated. After remodeling adjustments for the adjacent room, Hector (full-time intern) will have a bedroom and this taller room will serve as our first church office! It was quite a project, but we're thankful to have a space for him to move into in the next week or two.  The beginning of September we celebrated Crece church's three ye...
