Changing spaces & schools

For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens. Ephesians 6:12

Precious ones. I sat down with them at our picnic and we had a little chat about what they've liked and what's been hard about starting the church...Gotta have more moments like that!

Ever since we started Crece (church plant), I've been more keenly aware of the ebb and flow between breakthrough and oppression. It's a constant because of the spiritual battle we're up against.  Our best strategy, then? Stay alert at all times, praying in the Spirit...

Nayeli hadn't been able to baptized last month, so she asked if we could do it this month. 🙌

Within the month: a baptism, a homeless guy out front, paint & renovation to the space, our first Thursday evening verse-by-verse Bible study, the decision to change the boys' school, found a new school, signed them up and got all the school supplies, had newcomers take interest in the Word, established some boundaries... and flipped apartment spaces at home!

In all this, we see God's grace and favor and continue to cry out for HIM.

Twist Kids' Club. Pray for each of the clubs and leaders to continue to be fortified in the Spirit.

Some paint and adhesive white board go a long way :) *thanks Jonathan*
We'd considered having a couple live at the space for security, but that didn't work out and it has become a positive! Now that room is super useful for kids' class on Sunday, breakout groups on Saturday, and for Thursday evening.

Bathroom at Crece... in the process of the before and after😂
Why the sudden change of school? We finally came to a breaking point of the battle of doing school work at home three days a week. It was a good season while it lasted in the sense that we got to be together in this period of initial church-planting

Sunday school teacher training last Saturday

However, it was time to amp up the quality of the boys' education now that we're over that first hurtle, and, hopefully alleviate some of the stress that came with less structure at home.

Praise God, through scholarships and special donations, they've started at a wonderful, professional, Bible-based school. Today is their third day! Liam is thrilled. Kai is adjusting...

Hole where the metal stair will go so we don't have to go outside in order to go from floor to floor.

More changes...now with our living space. We literally flipped the upper apartment furniture with the lower. What was the kids' room is now the office & vice verse. Laundry room is now "guest room," recording studio is now our bedroom, etc. One of the big benefits is that we finally have a totally separate living room! (couch to come...)

Now kitchen is separate from the dining space, too.

New office setup

Phew! I know it's a lot. Thanks for taking the time to read/view/pray. We bless you and praise God for you! Praying for special protection, to stay alert, to guard our time with Him, and...to ENJOY EVERY MOMENT!

Love to you all.

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
