A Getaway and Travel days

Let us look only to Jesus. He is the one who began our faith, and he makes our faith perfect. - Hebrews 12:2 (ICB)

View en-route to Ixtapan

As Crece church and Twist Kids' Club continue, we constantly face waves of discouragement and waves of hope.  People come and go. Leaders grow and then have setbacks.  We see breakthrough. We see backsliding. But we persevere, keeping our eyes on Jesus - the author and perfecter of our faith.

It's quite a mix of folks - teen moms, alcoholics, unemployed and empoverished, past gang members, former church-goers, established professionals, recovering "religious" people and more... but, it's beautiful.  That is the church, right?  Broken ones healing in Him.

Home visit to these ladies and new baby :)

Beginnings of worship band/chorus

Some work on decor and also new electrical wiring for the "auditorium." Next project is the bathroom! If you'd like to give towards that, it would be a great blessing.

Bible-study course completers

The end of this month we took a family ministry trip to San Luis Potosí - a trip that should take about 6 hours north. Well, due to traffic it took us 10 hours 😱. Yes, it was tough - the kids were so brave in the car. And yes, it was an exhausting effort. But it was worth it.
We got to see and catch up with old friends, minister to kids three nights at a kids' conference, do a three-session seminar for children's workers presenting the Twist project, AND Xaume preached at two churches on Sunday morning before the drive home (thankfully we made it home in the 6.5 hours).

Xau did SUCH a great job teaching and ministering to these young ones (60 or so). It really was a joy to be a part (even though EXHAUSTING).  He and I paired up for the first two nights and Brayan came to help all day Sat & Sun.)

First Seminar presenting Twist! (about 60 in attendance)
Getting to see our kids participate in worship was a highlight for sure (the weren't perfect angels the whole time, don't get me wrong - there was a fair share of meltdowns! but they got to experience our work and got blessed along the way)

Activities and crafts before the lessons

Xau preaching at a one-year-old church plant a friend is pastoring.

Early this month we did get to get out of the city for a day trip to Ixtapan de la sal - thermal waters two hours southwest. It was a very special trip with Tía Yaz before she left for Peru and her missionary work in the Amazon.

Grace and Grandma Tere

Thank you for taking time to read through this and pray and just to see a bit of our lives. We bless you and miss you and are all homesick...even if it already snowed! Praying we can make a trip in the near future. Love and hugs to each of you.

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
