Gearing Up!

Therefore, submit to God.
But resist the devil and he will flee from you.
- James 4:7
(Our verse for the team. Thanks for this reminder, Terry)

A lot of this month was prepping for some VERY special visitors.  For Spring break we hosted a team from Heritage Christian Church!  They were so encouraging, willing to serve, fun, hard-working and, as always necessary in missions: flexibleReally, it was an honor.

Our time together included service projects in the mornings and home visits in the afternoons.  We visited four of the Twist Kids' Club churches including Crece.  One of the greatest testimonies is the work God did in each of the team members' hearts: opening eyes to diverse realities and global Kingdom work, confirming their own stories of coming to walk with Jesus, and not being ashamed to share Him with others!

Matt preaching at Crece. Key passage: Luke 18:15-17 "Let the little children come to Me,  and don’t stop them, because the kingdom of God belongs to such as these."

One of the rooms prepped.
To think that I was once a 10-year-old girl on a Heritage short-term trip and am now the missionary host is, well, humbling and wild.

Other stories from the month:

Kai and Xau went to visit the first of the Twist clubs (started in . They've gone through many changes and no longer have the main teachers that were there before. BUT, the young man in the photo above is Adrian. We remember when he was just a kid - participating in Twist.  Now he and another young man (who also went to Twist) are two of the main teachers!
Contrastingly, Xau stopped by to see Job, a boy years ago, now a young man, who always stood out to us. He, however has had a very tough time and is not doing well. Xau was able to pray with him. Please join us in praying for the redemption of Job's life. God's purpose for him remains!

We're so proud of Brayan (beige jacket). Brayan has been serving with the Crece church plant from the get-go. He's now the youth leader, leads Twist once a month, teaches Sunday school, sometimes teaches Thursday Bible study, and helps me coordinate worship (while working full time).

He spoke at this combined youth group meeting we had with another church. It was a very important moment where he testified to the work God's doing in healing his heart and leading him towards wholeness.

Leaders from the Hearts in Action, Pucullpa (Peruvian Amazon) base sent us these stunning, colorful photos of how they've been teaching the Twist lessons! We're honored to be a part of spreading the Good News in some way to these precious lives!

Xau had the opportunity to speak at this church during their "family" series week. One of his key points: we often focus too much on kids' behavior instead of working with them on the why...

And... Liam turned EIGHT. Yes, eight. years. old.
Please continue to pray with us for wisdom in parenting - it's a challenge every day (a privilege we want to enjoy and be intentional about).

So, now we are slowly resting back up while housing another teen missions group of 26 plus! (Don't worry, they're off to their activities during the day.) Also, prayers please for a trip Xau and I are taking the end of the month to do a seminar in Colombia.

THANK YOU!
For reading. For praying. For being interested. For supporting. For loving us.
May God's grace continue to astound you.

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...

Treasure

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7 Did anyone see that recent headline about a diver who stumbled upon nearly 50,000 bronze coins? The team also noted fragments of broken pottery.  I thought of this verse - imagining that "treasure" being held in those old earthen vessels. That's the beauty here.  Despite our fragility, God chooses to deposit in us the eternal riches of His Holy Spirit!  Praises: Renovations underway! This room had horrible moisture running through it due to inadequate roofing. Now, with proper paneling, the leakage will be eliminated. After remodeling adjustments for the adjacent room, Hector (full-time intern) will have a bedroom and this taller room will serve as our first church office! It was quite a project, but we're thankful to have a space for him to move into in the next week or two.  The beginning of September we celebrated Crece church's three ye...
