Treasure

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7

Did anyone see that recent headline about a diver who stumbled upon nearly 50,000 bronze coins? The team also noted fragments of broken pottery.

I thought of this verse - imagining that "treasure" being held in those old earthen vessels. That's the beauty here.  Despite our fragility, God chooses to deposit in us the eternal riches of His Holy Spirit!

Praises:

Renovations underway! This room had horrible moisture running through it due to inadequate roofing. Now, with proper paneling, the leakage will be eliminated. After remodeling adjustments for the adjacent room, Hector (full-time intern) will have a bedroom and this taller room will serve as our first church office! It was quite a project, but we're thankful to have a space for him to move into in the next week or two.

The beginning of September we celebrated Crece church's three year anniversary. It's been quite the journey, but lives have been impacted.  Back in July of 2022, we launched Twist Kids' Club here and in September began our first Bible study with four adults.  Below, we're praying for Pastor Yonathan - a friend of ours who will be collaborating in the work as his sending church discontinued the church he was pastoring.
Youth paint-ball outing was a success 😅 They had a great time. We're planning to start bimonthly in-person meetings this month. Please pray for Brayan.  He has worked hard connecting and building these relationships, faithfully hosting online devotions once a week and coordinating special outings and times of worship.

Prayers:

New Twist outreach site: "La Palma" (below).  We've been coordinating monthly kids' outreaches here since January. Please pray for the host family (Genoveva & Tirso). They've had some very difficult situations, but we see their openness and hunger for the gospel.  We've invited them to consider opening the doors of their home for a Sunday morning Bible study.  This area is about a 15-minute drive from the Crece church.

Another outreach this month in "Paseos" Zumpango (on the outskirts of the Metropolis, about 40 minutes by car from Crece site.  A couple who lives here contacted us a few weeks ago and have been visiting Crece after a couple years absent from church attendance. Their heart is to reach out to the community since they don't know of a single Christian church.

They formerly held a children's cell group in their home, but when the parents found out they were teaching the Bible, they no longer allowed them to come. Our goal is to partner with them to have monthly kids' outreaches (in the public park) that can create a bridge with families.

And, finally, the homeschooling adventure continues. Please pray for us to have wisdom, patience, and impacting times together as a family - in walking together toward Christ. Praise God for Kai's new glasses :) He's also getting some check-ups with an ENT due to mouth breathing. 🙏

That's it for now! Thank you so much for joining with us in this journey.  We are honored to partner with you in being these clay pots full of His treasure.  May He bless each of you INDEED and fill you with His affirmation every step of the way.

Love in Him,

The Buenos

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
