First Things First

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you. -Matthew 6:33

As we walk through a season of uncertainty, in the midst of the questions we keep coming back to this truth: seek FIRST HIS KINGDOM and HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS. But, what does that really mean? For one, constantly giving over to Him all our worries and unknowns, and two, refocusing as often as possible on the bigger picture: His glory in the world. This is bigger than me.

Day-to-day seeking His Kingdom looks like quieting our hearts before Him each morning (and throughout the day!), dedicating time with our children, taking time together as a couple, and, as we're able, walking with others towards Him - all the while taking HOPE from His Word and drawing POWER from His Spirit.

This month we saw God work through Jaime's memorial service (Xau's Dad), baptisms, child dedications, and fun times together. At the memorial, many of Jaime's family members (and a neighbor who attended!) got to hear the good news of the gospel for the first time. It was a significant time reflecting on his life, eternity and purpose.  It even created a space for re-connecting with much of the family whom we haven't seen in years.
One of the highlights for me was getting to video call with two of the children who decided to get baptized. I got to lead them through Bible passages about baptism and hear their dear hearts. Xau did a beautiful job at the child dedication - explaining the significance of each of the girls' first and middle names and taking time to pray over and affirm each one. It was actually special to do at this age since we begin to see their personalities and strengths.
That same day, the girls' mother and father got baptized. This is a family that lives next door to another family who came to faith through Twist/Crece. Last year, the mother of Reychel and Neymar (the brother and sister with whom I had the video call) was baptized. She encouraged her neighbors in Christ and they began to take steps in walking more closely with Him. (Above, making use of the new church office! Pray for this precious woman and her family as well.)
Here's one of our times with Tere and Yazna (Xau's mom and sister): a giant bounce house park to celebrate Liam's birthday before Yazna heads back to Peru.  We couldn't believe Tere would try it, but she did! It was a blast. Below - the bathroom projects continue at Crece. Improvement, but it's been quite an undertaking - as simple as it is. But it is SO nice to be able to have a couple toilets that flush 😅! Pray that God provide for all the expenses involved.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for reading and following along with us on this epic journey of following Christ. We love you and praise God for you. He is the Amazing One -  astounding us every day, even on the very tough days.

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
