May!

Now may the God of peace sanctify you completely.  May your spirit, soul and body be kept blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is             FAITHFUL, who also will do it.
--1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

I like this verse because it reminds us that God is the One who completes the work in us.  We present ourselves to Him, and He does it.

Perdóname! Forgive me for this VERY LATE May blog.  Praise God we've had lots of adventures and are finally back in the DF (Distrito Federal/ Mexico City)
I will post the June update soon :)

Mission Week
At the beginning of the month we were privileged to have the administrator from Hearts in Action, Guatemala stay with us.  We packed in several kids outreach events-- in public schools-- in the street-- and in a public amphitheatre!

In the schools, we did a values lesson on obedience that emphasizes biblical truths.

An elementary school we've gone to once before in Jilotzingo, Estado de Mexico

A middle school in Jilotzingo, Estado de Mexico

Here, we're in a street that the church we worked with closed off.  Since it was still close to Kid's Day, we advertised the event, and well...they came!

We were so excited that another church we worked with got permission to use an amphitheatre so we could share the Good News with more kids and their parents!

Graduation
Having successfully completed my first year at the Rhema Bible Training Center, Mexico, I received my first-year diploma.  Truly, it was a year of  biblical teaching that challenged me every day to strengthen my faith in our Almighty God.

By God's grace, I did very well-- despite the Spanish!

Leon, Guanajuato (pronounced Gwan-a-huah-toh)
Right after graduation, we hit the road for Leon, Guanajuato (approximately 5 hours north-west) where Xaume was invited to preach at a church the next morning.  We were so honored to be invited!

Praying for the youth

Huautla, Oaxaca (pronounced Wah-ha-ka)
To wrap up the month, we were invited on a short mission trip to the state of Oaxaca.  We worked with a mission that is starting there by having a couple evening services and a kids outreach event.

We were literally on top of a mountain.  I have never been around so many curves in my life.

Here's the view from where we stayed.  Note, there's no more mountain above.

Xaume- loving the hand-made tortillas

Fresh mountain air!

Kids listening to the lesson about Jesus and His Great Exchange so we could have eternal life

So excited to play soccer in the clearing

Precious tree-climber

Adios Oaxaca! This guy was hearding his goats along one of the million mountain curves.

Oh, and for those of you who like maps, here's a map of Mexico-- the place we went to called Leon, in the state of Guanajuato, and then to Oaxaca- a southern state. From extreme-to-extreme, about 12 hours.

Thanks for reading!  And thank you once more for your prayers and support.  We miss you all and want you to know that God is using you- as you support us and in your own mission field in the US.

Specific requests as you pray: wisdom and spiritual discernment in all that we do, efficiency as we plan for upcoming events, and for the Church in Mexico to have a growing hunger for missions.

We love you,
Anna and Xau

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
