June

I am the vine; you are the branches.  The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me.                                          John 15:5

San Pedro de los Baños

Surprise! June is already over and I find myself wishing you all a very Happy Fourth of July!

In review, June was a pretty exciting month as we had the opportunity to travel to two new communities on week-long mission trips.  All along the way we were clinging to the Vine-- our Source of strength.  We know that apart from Him, we can do nothing, and we give Him all the glory for the doors that He opened for His Word to go forth this month.

First Stop: San Pedro de los Baños: Toluca, Estado de Mexico
I know what you're thinking- why Los Baños?  Well, apparently there were originally hot-springs here.  But the people keep the custom today by going to the public bath where the water is now heated in a tank by fire wood. It only costs a dollar so we went-- quite the rustic spa experience.

Here in San Pedro, we focused on children's evanglism.  We presented a dynamic Bible lesson each day in different parts of the community.  And, as always, teens and parents came too!

In total, more than 300 children heard the message of Jesus Christ and His power to set us free from all bitterness, worry, fear, and anger.

Second Stop: Huanimoro, Michoacan
We weren't sure how our time in Michoacan would be due it's infamy for drug mafia and violence.  It's an area with many single moms and few men (many men are in the States working or have abandoned their families).

They were the most attentive kids we have seen.  We were surprised by the hunger of the children and people.  Please pray for more workers to join the work in these regions where God's Word is so scarce.

When we got there, we wondered how we would have kids to teach because the houses seemed so far apart! But as we went door-to-door to invite them, we realized there were more than we thought.  About 200 kids heard the message during our time in Huanimoro.

Praise God for His protection and for the lives He touched.  Pray for Pastor Carlos and his wife, Lola as they continue to minister to these kids who so desperately need the love of our Heavenly Father.

Back in the D.F. (Federal District/ Mexico City)

Technically, Estado de Mexico (the State of Mexico), we were excited to have an opportunity to share with these youth about the transforming power of Jesus Christ..

Xaume was invited to preach at this all-night prayer vigil.

Ironically, or should I say due to God's mysterious ways, we were invited to share at Parent's School -- an all-day seminar designed to give Biblical instruction on parenting.

We have learned a lot from ministering to children, and well, being children too.  We were honored to share.

To close the month out, Xaume was invited to preach at our church on Sunday.  He challenged us to remember the Lord in all that we do-- never attributing our achievements to our own efforts.

Thanks for reading! And thank you for every prayer and every time you think of us.  We need your help.  Without the Vine, we are nothing.  Pray that we will continue to draw from His living water and share it with many, many more.

Love you.

Anna and Xaume

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
