March Missions

[God] who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God and one mediator between God and humanity, Christ Jesus.
1 Timothy 2:4

After much planning and preparation, we embarked on the mission trip to bordering state Morelos.  It was exciting! With thirty american teens and over thirty members of the Mexican Church, we had an awesome team.

In each town, young and old gathered to watch the step team and dramas by the USA team which transitioned to the message of salvation.

As this group went to invite locals to the event, they were welcomed into this home and prayed for each person.  For many, it was the first time anyone has prayed for them.

An elderly lady said she had an illness of sores, and when they prayed over her, she said it felt like cool water had washed over her whole body.  We believe our God is Healer!

For each event we had teams who presented dramas for the kids, held a dental clinic, gave free hair-cuts, and distributed donations of food and clothing.

We were in charge of the group from Tulsa.   I did a lot of translating, coordinating, and giving instructions and Xaume helped me, worked with logistics and sound, and pretty much everything else as well.

Here's Xau sharing the gospel message at one of the villages.  A total of over 400 people received the Lord during this week. Amen!

At each site, there was a local pastor who we presented so that those who do not have a church to attend can continue growing in Christ through that Body.

There's a great video of the trip on Rhema Mexico's Facebook page.  Here's the link (you may need to log into facebok first):

After missions, Xaume taught class at the Bible Institute in Cuautla (which happens to be the same community where we went for the missions trip- an hour and a half from the city).

This month, we were excited to have our first skate fest outreach of the year.  In Neza, (a rougher part north of the city) there is a skate park, where lots of teens who've never entered a church, skateboard.  There is also a church called Efeso.

We partnered with this church to put on a skateboarding contest with judges, prizes, hip-hop, drama, and at the end of the event, the message of Jesus.  When Xaume shared his testimony, it connected with these kids.  We led them in a declaration of their worth and value in Christ- that in Him we have purpose and our lives are changed.

Afterwards, we prayed with the participants and prayed individually for the winners.  Several teens came up to Xaume and thanked him.  They told him that there is no one else who is doing this.  Jesus touched their hearts.

The registration sheets with each competitor's contact information stays with the church so that they can call and invite each young man to come and learn more about what it means to follow Christ.

Pray with us that the spark that began at this event will continue to grow into discipleship.

We got a phone call from our pastor friends in Leon, Guanajuato (5 hours from the city), to do a family message for the church there (Tree of Life).

Then they told us that the theme was going to be cowboys!  (Rimelspach's I think you would have loved this).  The idea is that the whole family can learn biblical truths together in the auditorium.

We shared on unity and God's purpose for the family to be united and cemented together through Christ.  He is the way our marriages, families, and churches can stay together- held fast through His Word.

We were privileged to share with them.  At the end of the service, I led a song of worship called Jesus at the Center (highly recommend it).  Here's a link if you're interested:

Finally, I want to include a testimony of God's provision.  The photo below is of my new computer (MacBook).  Xaume and I had started praying about a new computer several months ago.

Then, out of the blue, my friends Andrea Howard and Erin Barker wrote to me and asked if we had any specific needs.  One of the things I mentioned was a MacBook.  A couple months later, they wrote to me again, informing me that they now had the computer and were ready to send it to me!

Our God is able- able to provide all our needs!  Thank you Andrea, Ian and Erin!  We are so thankful.

Thank you so much for reading!  We pray it encourages you in your walk with Christ.  These are just some of the things we get to see God doing, but we know that He is at work in each of your lives.  Continue to press into Him- it's an exciting adventure!

These next several months we have many youth retreats we will be planning and facilitating.   Please pray with us for the hearts of these young people to be ready to hear the Word of God and hungry to grow in Him.  Also, please pray for wisdom for us and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit to plan and prepare.

Thank you! We love you and are thankful to God for your lives, your friendship, your example, and your support.

In Him,  Anna and Xaume

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
