Streeeeetch

For when I am weak, then I am strong.   2 Corinthians 12:10

It's good to be stretched.  When we're stretched, our human strength fails, and God's strength manifests.  This month had moments of demand: physically, spiritually, and emotionally.  But the beauty is that He gets all the glory.

Puebla, Mexico

We started off the month conducting a four-day youth retreat for a church located here in the city.  This was their first youth camp, so they asked for our help.

The church chose a lovely location an hour and a half south of the city.  Upon arrival, the kids were ours.  From sunup to past sundown, we kept the teens busy with team building activities...

Devotions, reflections, workshops...

 Dinner parties and crafts...

Teachings, worship and prayer!

Many of the youth had never been to camp before and didn't know what to expect.  But by the time we had to say goodbye, they were deeply grateful for the work God had done in their hearts and the friendships they had made.

Thank you, God for the opportunity to sow into these young lives!

Next, we geared up for the double-take youth retreat and mission trip.  A group of seventeen from Washington state, plus 60 teens from Mexico embarked on Rhema's youth retreat.

Welcoming orientation

Officially, we were in charge of the US team.  But we stayed busy as activities directors, translators, MCs and speakers.

Xaume planned the camp and rally activities each afternoon!

Thanks for translating Xau!

Despite unexpected schedule changes, evening thunder storms, and spider bites, when several teens told us it was the best camp they've ever been to, it was music to our ears!

The Spirit of God moved over the youth in power during times of worship and prayer.  We pray that the work continue in each young person's life.

After three and a half days of camp, we had a transition to missions.  Most of the youth returned home, but 30 members of Rhema Bible Church met up with us to travel to the state of Puebla (another 4 hours south).

The first night we arrived to preach at a local church.  Here I'm translating for Pastors Greg and Starlene (from Inspiration Bible Church in Tacoma, WA).

Receiving the Lord

After the call to salvation, we extended the invitation to pray individually for healing and other needs.  Several people received instant physical healing and many others a healing touch from the Father.

In these rural areas of Puebla and Guerrero, few people have come to minister.  The pastor in Cuahlote, which we traveled to in pick-ups due to rough terrain, said they have never had any event like it.

The people were so thankful and asked us when we would be coming again.  That makes it worth all those mountain curves.
Pray with us for those who heard the message to hunger for more and to become a part of the local congregations.

To close the month, we celebrated our two year anniversary :)

Thank you so much for your prayers and support! We love you!

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...

Treasure

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7 Did anyone see that recent headline about a diver who stumbled upon nearly 50,000 bronze coins? The team also noted fragments of broken pottery.  I thought of this verse - imagining that "treasure" being held in those old earthen vessels. That's the beauty here.  Despite our fragility, God chooses to deposit in us the eternal riches of His Holy Spirit!  Praises: Renovations underway! This room had horrible moisture running through it due to inadequate roofing. Now, with proper paneling, the leakage will be eliminated. After remodeling adjustments for the adjacent room, Hector (full-time intern) will have a bedroom and this taller room will serve as our first church office! It was quite a project, but we're thankful to have a space for him to move into in the next week or two.  The beginning of September we celebrated Crece church's three ye...
