2015 Fin!

"The gift that God gives is eternal life through Jesus Christ."

Romans 6:23b

It's always hard to believe the year's come to a close.   Thank you God for the lives and places you've sent us to this year!  May they continue to produce fruit for Your Kingdom!

Our last week in Guatemala was full:  from sharing with the To the Great Commission students and facilitating aspects of the training to leading local outreaches.

Xau organized and supervised the camp.  Here's one of the team-building activities.

Xaume led a group of the students in an outreach here in Flores, and I had the opportunity to lead a day trip with a group of missionary ladies to an orphanage, hospital, and the dump.

There's a whole community that lives off the dump - not an easy life.   The kids had a hard time participating in the songs and games.  I think many of them don't know how to be kids.

But, after giving out gifts,we took time to play one-on-one with them and pray for them.  That seemed to be the real treasure for them.

I spent the last few days on the Ranch ordering the school library!  I really love organizing, so it was a good job for me.  First, we had to sort all the books out on the tables by type - that was a job indeed!  Then back on the shelves to be labeled by their category color.   We did it!

Back in Mexico we set to work on the Christmas outreaches.  Here we're rehearsing a drama from the lesson we wrote: "The Best Gift."  Rehearsing, prepping costumes, materials and the set kept us busy...

But of course it was worth it.  The kids (and adults) really responded.   His love - His infinite love brought Him to become a man, live on the earth, die for our punishment, and live for eternity as our advocate!  He is the best gift we could ever receive.

We were so thankful to have the opportunity to minister at this church, Conquering Frontiers, as over 600 kids (in three services) came! The idea is always to invite children who haven't heard the Good News - and these kids did: they brought their friends, neighbors and cousins to hear about Jesus!

At the end of the service, we had special time for the kids to pray for their teachers.  They always amaze us.

The next week we were able to do a lesson at this church, Walls of Salvation Gates of Praise.   The children's leaders working here are familiar with Hearts in Action, and actually went to To the Great Commission conference years ago!

They really wanted to give the teachers and families in the church an idea of what it means to minister to children.  They were truly grateful for our role in pushing giving them an idea into what that can look like.

Xaume was invited to preach at this church, Jesus Salvation, where a friend of ours pastors.  He did a great job challenging the Body to intentionally share their faith!

Here, at the church, Hearts with Purpose, we got to facilitate "The Best Gift" lesson.  One lady from the community brought her six grandchildren to hear the Good News!  Amen!  A young dad who attended also received the Lord.

For our last "The Best Gift" lesson, we traveled to a church in Ixtapaluca - a needy community outside the city.  We were surprised at the community's response!  Nearly all the kids who attended were newcomers and many of them brought their parents!

Since so many of the kids were new, they were a bit of a rowdy group.  However, that kind of behavior is always evidence to us that they need the guidance of God's Word in their lives.   So we give thanks for God's touch - for the Truth He sowed into them, and we pray it produce hunger and grow strong!

Thanks so much for reading and the Happiest NEW  YEAR!!   He makes all things new - He is the source of life - He is the  Best Gift!

We send our love!

Xaume & Anna

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
