A Time to Sow

I will also make you a light to the nations,
to be my salvation to the ends of the earth.
Isaiah 49:6

He is our light and life!

Thank you all for your prayers this month.  The conference we coordinated went well - over 80 youth leaders and pastors came to the training.  Praise God we received numerous thanks for the encouragement and exhortation that Pastor Howard and Pastor Misael brought.

Howard Andruejol, from Guatemala, was our keynote speaker. Aside from pastoring a church, he's the director of Youth Specialties Institute and the executive editor of a magazine called Líder Juvenil (Youth Leader).  All that to say - he has lots of experience.

His charge? To focus on people, not programs.  He reminded us that the heart of a youth leader guides, cares for and heals the sheep as a pastor his flock.

Pastor Misael, youth pastor at Conquistando Fronteras, a church bringing huge breakthrough here in the city, challenged us to base our ministry to youth around the model of Jesus.  He is our best example.

It was a full weekend as Pastor Howard spoke that evening at the youth group below, and early the next morning he and Xaume flew to San Luis Potosí (a city about 6 hours north of where we are).

The church we worked with in San Luis, Agape, has several campuses. After dropping Pastor Howard off at one to preach, Xaume spoke at the second site (you can watch it on YouTube...if you speak Spanish:  Xaume's Message).

Then, Agape invited surrounding churches to come to the conference on youth leadership that evening. Below, the church's youth pastor Arturo sharing the Word.

It was a fruitful time for sure.  Even though we would have liked to have seen more people at the conference here in the city, we trust in God's power to multiply the seed!

Here we are teaching the kids of Word of Life about the potential Jesus has given them!  The children's leader, Apolonia, invited us to share the dynamic power of God's Truth with them.

Wrapping up the month, Xau had the opportunity to speak at this church a few days before we did the children's worker seminar there.  Teaching our kids is first the responsibility of us! - parents!

And we are learning about that!! (Again, I couldn't resist...)

The seminar (Passing the Torch to this Generation) was both Friday and Saturday - a total of seven hours of almost-non-stop teaching! The truth is, Xaume and I both love teaching.  The other truth is, it's hard work, especially just between the two of us. But we made it.  And Liam was a champ!

Despite being exhausted afterward, the testimonies of attendees were so encouraging.  One teacher wrote:
"I'm so glad you came. The truth is that this time has greatly changed my perspective and way of seeing things.  God has given me wisdom and teaching through you guys.  Thank you!"

We believe that by training leaders, many others will be able to reach the next generations.  Praise God, this month we had the opportunity to contribute in completing the mission that Jesus has given us to go into all the world and make disciples.

Thank you Jesus for your faithfulness!  We rejoice in You!  You're the One who works in us!  Keep doing what You do.
Amen!

We're so looking forward to our Ohio visit in a few days. Please pray it will be a refreshing time full of His Word for us.
May His grace, love and power continue to amaze you!

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
