Kids' Month

Unless you change and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:3

Growing Liam!

April's a great month to work with kids because on the 30th they celebrate Children's Day!  We were excited to use the celebration as a platform for the Gospel.

But before we got rolling with Kids' Day outreaches, a Bible institute from the north of Mexico contacted us.  They asked for a puppet workshop via Skype.  So here's our set...

Then, we were happy that these four ladies from Grace Christian Church in Michigan joined us in ministry the week.
At this church, Pastor Renee shared the Word of God about holding onto the dreams God has given us just like Joseph did.  After the message we were able to pray over many!

The next day we were off to the neighbourhood pictured below.  Christ the Healer Church did a great job passing flyers out earlier in the week to new people from the area.

Many got to hear and receive the message of Jesus for the first time!  And some kids from last time came back for more.

Saturday was our day to go to El Bordo - a tough area where many who formally lived in the dump are now residing (since the military recently kicked them out).

The girls did a great job getting involved and loving on the kids.  Our lesson's focus was what Jesus said about children - that we must be like them; that they have characteristics that are an example to all of us.  And each one of them is SO important to Him.

Xaume and I continued visiting churches throughout the end of the month - sharing the Word of God about kids.  We encouraged parents to remember that Kids' Day is a special time for them to remember to pray over their children every day.

View of the colonia of the church above.
(Below) It was our first time ministering at this church with which a friend of ours connected us.  While finishing the lesson, we took a time for kids to pray for their parents and vice versa.  Only the power of Jesus truly unites our families.

Liam being a trooper!  He went with us everywhere (except El Bordo)!
We were excited to minister during the kids' service at this church (below).  Normally, they have about 100 kids or less on Thursday nights.  Well, these kids did their job!  They invited neighbours, cousins, and classmates.

Over 600 kids showed up!  I'll be honest; it was crazy.  There was hardly room to move!  Even so, we believe God spoke to them - reminding them how valuable they are to Him!

So I just thought this picture of Liam was so cute...
We're learning from him every day :)

Last year we did an outreach for Kid's Day at the church in this area (below).  The youth group took up the challenge to facilitate a kids' Bible club every Saturday!  A former feared gang leader came to Christ at this church as well.  The kids' club now meets at her home!

We pray that many of the kids who came as guests this time will hunger for more and come weekly to hear about Jesus and His plan for their lives.

This was our Kids' qualities Tetris board.  The sign he's holding up translates, "willing" - one of the most convicting characteristics kids exemplify!

And, here we were yesterday sharing at The Way: Family Restoration Christian Church.  Lots of kids from the neighbourhood came out and brought their parents for the Kids' Day celebration.

Some of our key phrases for the kids': "I have potential!" "I have a purpose!" "I'm important!" and "I'm special!"

Lord Jesus, thank you for each child and family that heard your Word and your plan of life!  We pray that they will press into You, hear your voice and follow in your steps!

Thanks for reading and for praying with us this month!  Praise God for His protection, provision and power.  Continue to pray with us for:

  • The upcoming youth leadership conference we're hosting this month
  • A children's leader intensive training this month
  • Continued guidance and wisdom to minister as HE leads

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...

Treasure

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7 Did anyone see that recent headline about a diver who stumbled upon nearly 50,000 bronze coins? The team also noted fragments of broken pottery.  I thought of this verse - imagining that "treasure" being held in those old earthen vessels. That's the beauty here.  Despite our fragility, God chooses to deposit in us the eternal riches of His Holy Spirit!  Praises: Renovations underway! This room had horrible moisture running through it due to inadequate roofing. Now, with proper paneling, the leakage will be eliminated. After remodeling adjustments for the adjacent room, Hector (full-time intern) will have a bedroom and this taller room will serve as our first church office! It was quite a project, but we're thankful to have a space for him to move into in the next week or two.  The beginning of September we celebrated Crece church's three ye...
