Eight Twelfths: August

Yet for us there is one God, the Father.  All things are from Him, and we exist for Him.  And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ. All things are through Him, and we exist through Him.
1 Corinthians 8:6

Creative Impact Seminar, Rivers of Fire Church

All that we are is through HIM and for HIM!

God keeps opening doors to share the message of His heart for kids! Two all-day trainings this month for teachers and parents left us with encouraged with the following comments:

  • Pastor Arturo "[the training] spoke to me about being diligent with my team of teachers and to be wise in dealing with children; it freed me from bad attitudes. It helped my team."
  • Teacher Yazbeth "I could visualize different ways to teach the kids and at the same time be an example to them and transmit what I learned to other teachers and members of my team."

VBS Ebenezer (Independent Pentecostal Christian Church)

And, as summer came to a close this month, we got to be a part of two vacation Bible schools.  Here we shared with the kids at their closing ceremony.  Despite being a fairly legalistic congregation (women are to use skirts and wear veils), Judith continues to fight for the kids and teens ministry.  She went to Hearts in Action's "To the Great Commission" two-week training in Guatemala last year and is putting it to use!

VBS Peniel Christian Center

And here we kicked off the opening :)  Once a week last month, Xaume worked with this church in order to plan the content and program of their VBS.

For the closing, parents came to see their kids perform songs/ choreographies/ dramas.  It was powerful.  Xau shared after the youth's presentation and many received Jesus for the first time.  A majority of parents and kids come just this week per year.  We pray that a hunger for the Truth and for real community may well-up in them so they can walk with Jesus every day.

Igniters.  This church, Conquering Frontiers, hosts an annual kids' conference.  The theme this year: missions.  Three afternoons of worship, workshops, an elaborate dramatical production, and the Word of God made it quite an undertaking for this congregation.  It was a privilege to volunteer, interact with and even teach the over 500 youngsters.

(You can watch the livestream on Facebook by searching Conquistando Fronteras Ciudad de Mexico and scroll down until you get to Igniters...

As the kids were in teams by continent, here we're praying for the people on each one.

And... TWIST continues!   It is designed to last at least one full year.  Attendance has fluctuated some, but we continue praying for the kids and their families of this community to break barriers and come to HIM.

We are currently transitioning out of the facility to another where the rent is much more economical.  Please pray for that remodelling process and provision for chairs, supplies and materials.

Special guest for the month, choreographer Dany Rios led the lesson and workshop one Saturday.

Thank you for lifting us up in prayer! Don't stop. : )   And to those of you who support us financially - thank you.  God continues to show His faithfulness through you. We bless you in His Name!  A special thanks to Terry Riggs and your life group - your blessing this month was a big answer to prayer.

Running and climbing and chattering galore!

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
