But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my POWER is made perfect in weakness."  Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
- 2 Corinthians 12:9

Oaxacan mountain town, Huautla (7 hrs. away).  Orange mums are typical for the Day of the Dead.

This verse.
Only He can turn our weaknesses into beauty.  We're at one of those points.  One of those moments where He reminds us once again to totally trust Him.  What a trustworthy God we serve!

Xaume and Jesus Cruz accompanied mission pastor Braulio on the long trip to the Oaxacan mountains for a weekend of Day of the Dead kids' outreach lessons and an all-day training seminar for local churches.

Braulio lives here in Mexico City and travels every two weeks to pastor in his hometown of Huautla. Jesus is serving with him to establish the kids' outreach program.

They LOVED the slime lesson.

A near-by church hosted the training for Samaritan's Purse's Operation Christmas Child box give aways.  The pastor invited Xau to speak at one of the sessions. There were over 50 churches represented!

At Valley Christian Center, we held three Saturday trainings this month. They also invited a pastor couple from another church to come.  Some of the topics were "How to prepare a lesson" and "Characteristics of children's ministers."

Our collaborators Lalo and Ale came and gave some of the sessions too!  The pastors were very grateful for the time together and expressed what a blessing it was for their congregations.

On Thanksgiving we appropriately dressed as pilgrims. : )
We prepared and taught a thanksgiving lesson for this school and later had a great meal with the Bueno family (below).

Xau, his sister Yazna, Jesus Cruz and two of the Twist Kids' Club volunteers, Mitch and Keila, took a trip to Zacatlan, Puebla (5 hrs. away) to reach out to kids in town.  A Peruvian friend invited him since she is involved in a service project there.

Always exciting to minister to new kids.

Can't believe another year is almost through.  We are thankful.  And prayerful.
Please pray for supernatural protection and for His power to break through - in our weakness.

We send our love to all of you and are so looking forward to some time in Ohio soon!

May He fill each of you with His joy and perspective,

The Buenos

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
