For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders.   And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  -Isaiah 9:6 Handel´s Messiah helps us remember t his famous verse.  With parents and relatives assembled for the Christmas recital at Liam´s school, Principal Fabiola had invited us to teach a lesson.  For the memory verse section, I set to make it fit (in Spanish) into the Messiah´s  melody.  As I played and sang, families repeated and played on their instruments.    Going back in time... Xaume had a full trip in Guatemala, teaching and training.  We praise God for all He did in each of the students´ lives and pray that they continue to be fortified in the Word and Spirit.  May many, many children, youth and families be reached and discipled through their lives. Praise God (after attending the trainings), we received 200 Christm...

He says,  "Be still and know that I am God;  I will be exalted among the nations,  I will be exalted in the earth." Psalm 46:10  We made it a priority to get away this month for a small retreat - even if for just one night.  While the boys stayed with Xau´s parents, we had about 24 ours at this little AirBnB just outside the city. It was a quiet place to talk, pray, read and think about the year and the year to come.  Twist Ixtapaluca Street outreach for Day of the Dead - near Twist Valle de Chalco The Twist Kids´ Clubs (4) were busy preparing and hosting their "Choose Life"outreaches at the beginning of the month.  Pastor Braulio and two leaders (Aaron and Angélica) from  Twist Kids´ Club in Oaxaca flew out late this month to take the To the Great Commission Training in Guatemala!  Twist Nextlapan Twist Huautla, Oaxaca Kai´s presentation at church was this month! It was a special moment to celebrate tog...

October 2019

And I realized that there is an advantage to wisdom over folly, like the advantage of light over darkness.  Ecclesiastes 2:13 Mexico's Day of the Dead, now fused with Halloween, has become one of the darkest times of the year.  Schools, plazas, catholic parishes (above), etc. adorn altars which the deceased "visit."  It's just one evidence of common syncretist culture and beliefs.  Hence, Choose Life lessons were born. Years ago we started writing outreach curriculum that focuses on the joy of life and, more fully, life in Christ.  We want kids and families to conserve the excitement of celebration, turning their eyes to their Creator and eternal life.  After much writing, planning, purchasing, recording, etc., this year’s lesson was ready.   October and early November were packed with teaching the lesson at different sites.   Our friends Ale y Lalo came along to help with the lesson as well as two other friends, Gaby and L...

September 19

But our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20 Praise God all of Malakai´s check-ups at the hospital have been positive! He´s doing great. (Just pray that he´ll sleep through the nights!)  Since September is Mexico´s Independence "month," we were invited to do a lesson at his school.  The verse we focused the lesson on was Philippians 3:20. We get to celebrate being citizens of an eternal kingdom!   Liam is doing very well at pre-school.  He's had some learning curves, but overall he's loving it. In the picture below we're facilitating a children's leader training with a church mission in Cuajimalpa - an area on the outskirts of the city where we've never worked before.  They were very thankful for the input.  Two young ladies who are the children's leaders at another church attended and said they recognized us from our Youtube videos!  I finally ...

August 19

Since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4 I chose this as the verse of the day for Thursday of the kids' conference.  Every year, Conquering Frontiers church holds a congress just for kids, and this year the title was "Land of Giants-" focusing on God's power in us to defeat giants in our lives: specifically, fear, loneliness and rejection.  It was a privilege and challenge to not only coordinate the workshops (where the kids break into smaller groups), but also to do one of the teachings. The weeks leading up to "Land of Giants" were packed.  Writing out lessons, writing curriculum, calculating the list of materials, recording tutorial videos for all the volunteers, editing and posting the videos, buying supplies and dividing them out...then the actual days of the conference: setting up spaces, coordinating volunteers and preparing materials...
