February 2020

Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.
- John 15:4

As we look to the year and the goals we have, it often seems daunting. But this simple promise is God's constant reminder to me: seek and serve Him and all the rest will come.  In a word, remain.

Twist Breakfast

Eating together is always the best.  Funded by Heritage Kids - we had a lovely Twist leaders breakfast - where each could share about last year´s triumphs and challenges.  Due to some changes last year, there are currently five Twists and one is planning to start in April.

Twist Oaxaca

Twist Oaxaca celebrated their first year anniversary!  Xau made the eight-or-more hour trip down to participate and encourage the teachers and volunteers as they continue learning and growing.  Every other Saturday, Angelica and the team make their rounds to announce and pick up kids.  Praise God two new families recently started coming to the local church due to this initiative.

Twist Topilejo

Here in the south of the city in an area called Topilejo, Pastors Celerino and Aurora have decided to incorporate Twist at their church.  They´ve been having high attendance of neighborhood kids on Sundays and want to implement a more intentional program for them.  This month and last Jesus and Xau gave their initial trainings.

ExpoKids

For the first time ever, we were invited to "pitch a stand" at a children´s ministry expo.  One of the largest churches here in Mexico, Centro de Fe (Faith Center), organized the event. People from different churches all over came and asked about what we do, and Xau held a workshop for attendees who signed up.

Couples' dinner
Making the most of February, Convivencia Cristiana Nueva Vida (the host church of Twist Ixtapaluca) organized a lovely couples´ dinner conference.  As guest speakers, Xau and I were humbled and honored to share God´s Word and prompt communication for these couples of all stages.

Casa Hogar

These girls form part of the "Casa hogar" (home house) that Liam´s school visited.  It´s not an orphanage, since one or more of the young ladies´ parents are living, but it´s where they spend their week due to the parents´ situation (drug addiction, prison, etc.). Xau accompanied them and directed the Choose Life lesson.

Leadership Summit

To close the month, Xau and I took time to attend the "Global Leadership Summit" -  a weekend conference focused on inspiring leaders of all areas.  It´s based out of Willow Creek (Illinois) and is now transmitted at churches around the world.

Mom life
This is the evidence of our newest baby-on-the way!  Most of you know by now, but we´re excited to mention we're expecting baby #3 in late August.

Thank you for reading!! Even your interest in hearing about us is an encouragement.  Thanks to each of you for your faithful support - in prayer, in love, in finance, in friendship. It means the world.

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...

Treasure

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7 Did anyone see that recent headline about a diver who stumbled upon nearly 50,000 bronze coins? The team also noted fragments of broken pottery.  I thought of this verse - imagining that "treasure" being held in those old earthen vessels. That's the beauty here.  Despite our fragility, God chooses to deposit in us the eternal riches of His Holy Spirit!  Praises: Renovations underway! This room had horrible moisture running through it due to inadequate roofing. Now, with proper paneling, the leakage will be eliminated. After remodeling adjustments for the adjacent room, Hector (full-time intern) will have a bedroom and this taller room will serve as our first church office! It was quite a project, but we're thankful to have a space for him to move into in the next week or two.  The beginning of September we celebrated Crece church's three ye...
