June 2021

Keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God's throne.

Hebrews 12:2

That is the verse I wrote to Pastora Paty in a letter the nurses read to her in the hospital along with these words: "Keep your eyes on Jesus as I'm sure you are doing.  Just as he passed the hour of shame and was raised to the Father's side, we believe this season of pain will soon pass and your life will be redeemed."

She is now in His presence.

I had no idea those would literally be the last days of her earthly life. I still cannot believe she's gone. Every day her son-in-law would send the audio update about her progression. It seemed she was going to pull through. But then, so suddenly, the bacteria returned and she passed.

We will ever honor and remember Pastora Paty and her heart for children, especially. She was fundamental in starting Twist. She and Pastor Juan were the first ones we sat down with to propose the program. She had organized a kids' after-school project priorly, and was eager to reach out to the little ones again. They quickly accepted, and we started the journey of perseverance and hard work to start the first Twist Kids' Club in their community.  I have no doubt it was largely her vision that moved the church to adopt the work.

Here's a link to a facebook photo-montage video of her Twist legacy.

Pastor Paty

Please join us in praying for her family in this season of grieving and as they continue to carry the vision she pioneered as they plan to open the Twist doors again this month.

June brought with it a special gift from the Father - an impromptu visit to Ohio and some much needed time with family (and sharing baby Grace).  While it wasn't easy for Xaume holding down the fort in Mexico, he knew how important it was for me, and he got in some good time with the boys and his family as well.

Then it was my turn to stay with the kiddos - thankfully just a few days, though - as Xaume traveled to the Oaxacan mountains to speak and assist a four-day introduction to missions camp.  The 24 young (and not-as-young) participants stayed at the church mission where Pastor Braulio, his son Aaron, and niece Angie hold Twist Kids' Club. Aaron organized the event - which included teachings, outreach, prayer, and overall, exposure to reality way beyond the city limits.
Praying for these youngsters to encounter God and take His Word wherever it is He sends them.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and be a part of our lives. We are honored.

The five of us will be visiting Ohio in August!  You are invited to come to an evening gathering at Heritage Christian Church on Monday, August 16th from 6:30-8:30 (Room 102).

Hope to see some of you then!

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...

Treasure

Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us. - 2 Corinthians 4:7 Did anyone see that recent headline about a diver who stumbled upon nearly 50,000 bronze coins? The team also noted fragments of broken pottery.  I thought of this verse - imagining that "treasure" being held in those old earthen vessels. That's the beauty here.  Despite our fragility, God chooses to deposit in us the eternal riches of His Holy Spirit!  Praises: Renovations underway! This room had horrible moisture running through it due to inadequate roofing. Now, with proper paneling, the leakage will be eliminated. After remodeling adjustments for the adjacent room, Hector (full-time intern) will have a bedroom and this taller room will serve as our first church office! It was quite a project, but we're thankful to have a space for him to move into in the next week or two.  The beginning of September we celebrated Crece church's three ye...

A Man of Faith

“and we are confident and satisfied to be out of the body and at home with the Lord.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬    Juan Jaime Bueno: January 21, 1948- January 24, 2026  Xaume’s dad parted suddenly for his home with the Lord. Though we had seen a steep decline in his health and mobility, we didn’t know it would come this quickly. We honor his life as a man of faith, who treasured the Word, intercession, spiritual warfare and worship. He loved to laugh and keep up with the news. A dear friend to Xau, a father who loved him “as his own,” we will miss his regaños (scolding )  and hugs .  He loved his grandkids, and was very proud of each of them. We were proud of them as they helped unload the Operation Christmas Child boxes this December. The Crece team facilitated three outreach events where kids and families received this free gift from the Father and heard about the greatest gift: a relationship with Him.  La Palma outreach Zumpango Christmas Child Outreach...
