Water parks and hair washing

In all things...

God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. - Romans 8:28

Kids' Day outreach at the park (many of the kids had come to Twist before)

I don't know what else to do this month but give a small glimpse into our world...so the following are narrative "snapshots." (I'll include some photographs too, but they don't necessarily go with the paragraphs.)

Highlights:

1. A lady and her daughter who have been coming to Crece (church plant) recently opened up to us about what's going on in their home and several struggles they're dealing with - including depression, anger, and even a suicide attempt. We've been taking some time to meet and pray with them and last week I shared with them about hearing God's voice.  After taking some moments to practice the young lady shared that she heard God tell her: "Don't fear for I am with you."

Her mom didn't hear anything right away but as we were sharing we asked, "What does 'afanarse' mean?" She said she heard: "No te afanes." "Afan" in Spanish means "strive" or "toil."  So the word she got was: "Don't strive/toil." When we explained the meaning to her it was right on!  (Please keep praying for God's work in each of them, their family, and the congregation as a whole.)

Xau has been doing LOTs of teaching

2. At Twist we did one of my favorite workshops: personal hygiene! I love it because we get to wash the kids' hair, cut and paint nails and teach them about brushing teeth.  The boys even got to get haircuts.  At the end of the month we celebrated Kids' Day with an outdoor, in-the-park outreach (bounce houses included). (A specific prayer is for some of the rowdy, call-attention-to-myself boys who come to receive God's love and that teachers/volunteers can have a heart of compassion and wisdom to relate to them)

3. We invited a dear pastor friend of Xaume's to minister on Sunday. He moves in the prophetic and prayed individually for nearly everyone who came. So many were touched by the Holy Spirit and received a Word directly from the Father. (Prayer: that each person would continue to grow in Spirit and in Truth - personally seeking God daily.)

We did get to do a mini getaway to a water park for an overnight during Springbreak.  We did have lots of fun daytrips/fieldtrips
Lowlights:

1. There's a man who battles with alcoholism who has come to Crece several times.  Unfortunately, he gets pretty angry and even violent when intoxicated.  On two occasions he showed up outside the Thursday Bible study only to shout curse words and insults at God and several of the congregants.  Some were pretty rattled and offended by this and it created a tense situation for his wife where she was ashamed to come back. (Thankfully, I think many of them have calmed down but we are still praying for spiritual maturity for ones to forgive and show compassion; as well as restoration and deliverance for him from his past wounding and addiction.)

Debbie (intern) has been helping with events like this outreach and visiting other Twist clubs

2. One of our main workers is going through a tough season.  I really wish he would open up to us more about what all is going on. Pray for transparency so we can walk with him, minister to him and encourage him towards the wholeness God has for him.

It has been exciting to see some of the youth from church helping with Twist on Saturdays! (I don't think this young man knew what BudLight was haha but we got him an official blue Twist shirt, don't worry)

3. On Sunday a man who's been attending for a couple months did not agree with the way the invited pastor was ministering to people. Please pray that we can explain our Biblical position clearly to him and that the Spirit confirm directly to him what is true and right (and for Xaume especially not to be burdened by people's reactions / emotions / comments.)

Thanks so much for reading/praying/supporting/encouraging us. We praise God for you! Please send us your feedback :)

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
