Patience makes perfect

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for Him.

-Psalm 37:7

September is Mexico's Independence Day month! Viva Mexico!

Despite a great crowd that came out to celebrate Crece's two-year anniversary, attendance has been increasingly low. At first it was very discouraging. But once we got over that initial disappointment, God's put a new expectancy in our hearts.

We're prayerful - knowing that HE is the One who who moves people towards Him, and does the work in each of them. And we're taking steps to the real heart of the church plant: families facilitating gatherings around God's Word in their homes.

A few leaders are maturing, despite set-backs, and though the youth group is small, we see God working - often one person at a time. We celebrate the seemingly small victories: they are battles being won in the Spirit.

Here are a few short videos to help us meet and pray for the Body. Below the video I'll write the translation - so you can read while you listen to the Spanish original:

Hi, my name is Karina Serrano. I'm a believer in Christ, and I attend here at Crece. I started coming in February of 2023.  So, I've been here a year and a half.  And what made me stay here was the love my pastors have towards us - for each of us who come here. And I've been growing here in ministry thanks to the opportunity they've given us. They see us as Christ sees us - they see our qualities, and they encourage us. And I'm so thankful to belong to this church, this Body that is Crece.

Hi, good afternoon, my name is Brayan, and I want to share a little bit of what God has done in my life through Crece.  So, I became a part when I came to start helping remodel the place.  I think for me it's been (a time of) growth physically and spiritually - as in a renewal of my life. As the space improved physically - looking better and tearing down things that weren't useful, so God transformed my life - taking things out that were't helping in my life and replacing them with new things.

Hi, my name is Rocio, and I'd like to give a life testimony. Honestly, since I started coming here to this Christian Community Crece and I've grown a lot - first of all, to do like the Word says, true fasting. Crece has helped me learn to serve without desiring anything in return. It's taught me, through my pastors, to be thankful at all times and in everything you do. I've learned to smile, and that smile is what I can give to others. I've learned to share, to give, to love as God's loved me. I've learned to not just hear these things, but to do them.

Please help us keep praying these dear ones and their families. Here are some bits from the month:
September missions month: one Sunday we included seating on the floor to remind us to pray for believers and cultures who meet regularly in that posture.

Twist Club Iztapalapa gives out backpacks :)

Xau teaching a 12-hour Children's Ministry class at a Bible institute here in the City.

Xau and our friend Jesus Cruz flew down to spend last weekend in the southern state of Chiapas facilitating a Passing the Torch Seminar.

This was yesterday - just before Brayan preached!

Thanks for reading and staying posted! Thank you so much for praying with us, encouraging us, loving on us, supporting us and just being there for us. It means the world. Write any time :) Bless you!

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
