Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.

Highlights:

Worship night at Karina’s home (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then move into worship and the Word. It was especially significant because this wasn't something we planned - it was the initiative of one of the youth! Pray for these ones and many more from the community to continue taking steps to walk with Jesus.

Hector has been taking his weekly visits to church site, doing what moves his heart: talking to folks on the street, sharing a Word of Life with them and offering a listening ear. For now he’s spending a couple nights a week at the facility (since it’s really not set up for a living space) and in our guest room the rest of the week.  When he gets his residency here in Mexico, he'll start looking elsewhere to rent out a room of his own. He’s also been helping with Thursday evening DBS that have started back up at Crece. It's been a good space where ones have opened up with questions and struggles.

San Luis Potosí trips:

Xau and Hector took the bus to SLP (six hours north) for a weekend to inaugurate the Twist Kids’ Club opening.  They’re kicking off with kids from the community - making a space specifically for newcomers.  Here's Xau preaching at the hosting church, Ágape, on Sunday morning. Below is the inauguration:

The second trip was a family road trip for our kids to attend the “Missions Adventure,” a day camp for kids designed by a ministry to expose young ones to world missions and introduce them to other cultures. They spend the day “traveling” to four countries, this time: India, Syria, Senegal, and Nepal (they have to keep their passport with them all day, go through the “airport,” take the “flights” and even experience a surprise Bible search by extremists.

On the "plane" to their next country!
This was Syria's set up. In each room the tried a food or drink from the country, heard about their beliefs and customs, and saw some pictures or artifacts.

Other news:
  • Three trainings this month for existing Twist Kids' club workers (clubs in Chiapas, Chalco, Ixtapaluca and Iztapalapa)
  • Two more Crece folks taught on Sunday mornings (and two others on Thursday night)
  • Continued one-on-one discipleship continues for several individuals and one couple
  • Please pray for our time this weekend at a multi-church women's retreat (Anna and five Crece women) - to really be a time of breakthrough and encountering Jesus
  • Praise God several of the needs we’ve been praying for have already been covered! Thank you so, so much for sowing into the Kingdom. He is meeting our needs through you.

Continued giving opportunities:

  • Cost of current collaborators = raise 400 monthly
  • First full-time staff member = raise 350 monthly
  • Travel fund total goal = raise 8,000 USD
Family News:
Liam's 9th birthday. He loves to listen to music, play basketball, cook, excel in his studies and play video games.

It was also the month for losing teeth! Grace lost her first two and Kai his first ever.
She spends her free time dancing, cutting paper or fabric, playing with Barbies and exploring forts that Kai makes.
Kai's learning to read, riding a two-wheeler bike, likes playing with action figures, loves to draw, and today went out to search for lizards/bugs.

Oh, and the opening photo is of one of Xau's races. He's working hard. Thank you for reading! We are so thankful to know that you not only view this blog, but have actively taken part in our lives. Bless you.

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...
