His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.

- 1 Corinthians 2:9

It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)… The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”

We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.
Yotzan, Cristian, Manuel (Cristian & Manuel are brothers; their sister, Valeria was baptized last year)

The Twist team from Ecatepec have been visiting some of the other kids' clubs, which they've really enjoyed. We are so proud of how they've captured the vision and are passing it on! This month they also organized a soccer tournament for youth in the neighborhood near Crece church.
I had to thow this in :) Kai and Grace acting in their end-of-the-year performance for school. It was a big day! Liam played a piano duet, Kai sang a solo, they all acted in the play, honor roll and awards, business fair and choir concert!
This is Reychel, pictured at a leadership workshop led by a guest speaker at Crece (church plant). Reychel is almost always smiling - one of those radiant kind of people where God's calling for them is just evident. She faithfully attends Twist and Sunday school.  After attentively taking the three-hour course, I got to pray with her and encourage her in beginning to see herself as less of a participant and more as an assistant teacher. Please pray for her and her family as they grow in their walk with Christ (one of her brothers, Yotzan, was also baptized.)
Then, as I mentioned, in the middle of the month Xau and I parted ways. He flew down to Tabasco (on the HOT southern gulf) to minister for the weekend and teach a Passing the Torch children's ministry seminar. Most of the pictures I have of him are around meals 😅but actually he worked VERY hard teaching and preaching hours and hours.  This is one of the churches: "Jesus The Bread of Life."

In the meanwhile, I made it to Columbus with the kids and have been soaking up some R & R, summer fun with family as well as a few ministry meetings. Missing Xau, as are the kids, but he's having a really special visit now in Peru ministering and spending time with his sister Yazna who works in the Amazon (below). He's planning to fly up in August for the end of our visit.

Please keep praying for this time for each of us as well as the team in Mexico to remain strong (Pris, Hector, Brayan, Joce, Janet, Karina, Karla, Rocio and Carlos).
One specific request: we're asking God to hasten Hector's (a current intern from Honduras who's been working with us since February) visa process so he can get his residency in Mexico and provision for him to continue on as staff with us focusing in Ecatepec. His dream is to one day create a space for those with addictions and even a school, since he himself years ago was on the street struggling for existence and purpose.
One Sunday's kids' church
Thanks so much for reading and taking time to pray.
We are honored. God bless you with strength and favor and fill you with awe of His thoughts that we just cannot even understand.
Send us a note! We'd love to hear from you.

Time

Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk—not as unwise people but as wise—  making the most of the time, because the days are evil.    -Ephesians 5:15-16 God gave me a word for each month this year and February's word was TIME.  The goal: listening AND OBEYING His direction for how to spend time. He knows best - so yielding to His Word has been a challenge since I often think I know what needs to be done and when. But it's so refreshing when we do obey and get to experience His perfect wisdom!   Pray for these ones to continue to grow in their knowledge and walk with God! This past month... Crece Church Plant News:  Two women (mother and daughter) were baptized - expressing their desire to follow Christ completely.  Despite all her nerves and wanting to back out, Imara taught her first time on a Sunday morning! She was baptized last February. (Brayan also preached this month - we continue to encourage ones to let themselves be stretched and u...

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

Pressed

“We are pressured in every way but not crushed; we are perplexed but not in despair; we are persecuted but not abandoned; we are struck down but not destroyed. We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭8‬-‭10‬ ‭HCSB‬‬ It’s been a tough month. Good things but also some heavy pushback, spiritually. I’ve been prayerfully aware of the weight of this area we’ve targeted to minister in: Ecatepec. The name literally means “hill of the god of the air.” We know there’s quite a stronghold of the enemy in the region. And though it often feels like we’re working a pickax, we’re thankful  that His praise is the constant. And for the promise that we WILL NOT BE CRUSHED.  Highlights:  Worship night at Karina’s  home  (just two blocks from Crece church)  this Saturday night!  It was a great  time for the young people to come together, have some good hang out time and then mov...
