Let Them Come

Then Jesus said, "Leave the children alone, and don't keep them from coming to Me, because the kingdom of heaven is made up of people like this." - Matthew 19:14

He knew there was something special about them--a certain curiosity that we all need to catch onto.

Preaching on Deuteronomy 6:6-9: the importance of teaching the Word of God to children in the home.

They're eager, eager for a message of love, of life, of adventure.

Kid's camp-out camp fire: after telling the story of the fiery furnace "Our God is able to rescue us"

The good news is we have that message: the real-thing, real-life, unbeatable, irreversible message of Jesus Christ!

But if we don't share it, our selfishness has won us over.

How to share it?  That's where creativity enters in.

Encouraging these youth to put their dreams into God's hands

To meet people where they are.

To search them out and invite them in.

Mission trip in Leon, Guanajuato: house to house grocery bags and prayer for families

To remind them how much fun it is...

To guide them to cry out for Him...

To engage their point of view...

To simply share a hug, or picture, or...

Praying for young and old after the outreach lesson

A prayer.

And let them see His love's enough.  His purpose isn't lost on us.  His adventure is alive!

The message is the same: Jesus loves me.

Jesus loves me.

 Do I love Him?

Preaching a week later in Leon. The Good Samaritan: serving for love, not for profit

Will I share His message? To the ends of the earth?

Guanajuato, Guanajuato

Quick story:
During the mission trip in Leon, a man asked for a grocery bag.  Turns out he had no more food in the house.  He'd brought his kids to the outreach, but his wife wasn't interested.

After translating the gospel message and words of encouragement, we invited him to the small group in the area.  He went.  He took his wife.  He wants to change.  He wants a better marriage.  He wants to quit drinking.

Two weeks later when we went back to preach at the church in Leon, there he was on Sunday morning.  With his kids, ready to hear the Word of God.  Taking steps towards new life in Christ.  Please pray for Juan Carlos and his family.

Persevere!

Rejoice in hope; be patient in affliction; be persistent in prayer .   -Romans 12:12 This word hit me hard at the women's retreat we attended at the beginning of the month. After my "I-don't-want-to-suffer" breakdown, God sweetly reminded me of His heart: Rejoice in the love of my salvation! It's not the suffering we're called to, but the perseverance through it to produce in us the joy and privilege of getting to walk WITH Him... And along the way we get to accompany others - praying  that they encounter Him!  Moments like this - even when just a few take look at God's Word - are glimpses of hope. Pray with us for these ones to hunger for more, seeking after Him with all their hearts! Many are facing family difficulties, pursuing false gods (namely, "la muerte"/ saint death), struggling with addictions, violence, apathy, etc. This month we had a couple good times with some of the Twist and Crece church leaders.  Special praise for Karla as she h...

His Imagination

What eye did not see and ear did not hear, and what never entered the human mind -- God prepared this for those who love Him.  - 1 Corinthians 2:9 It’s been a month of lots of emotions. From baptisms, to celebrating three years of Twist Kids’ Club Ecatepec,  to delegating leadership to some of our team, to kids finishing the school year, to travel (the kids and I to Ohio and Xau to ministry trips)…  The constant through it all is that He is our Source. He just keeps reminding me: “Just be with Me.”  We weren’t sure that anyone was going to be baptized at our semi-annual date, but were so excited to see three young men say "yes" to the invitation. More than the baptism itself, it's the fact that they've chosen to follow Christ. Pictured here is Manuel. He’s been reading the Bible for himself and is really getting it. Please pray for their constant protection and growth. Praise God for Brayan and Hector who have specifically sown into these young lives.  Yotzan, C...

Every Step

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; a light has dawned on those living in the land of darkness. - Isaiah 9:2 Praise God for His light that breaks through our darkness!  This month I wanted to highlight a few testimonies from the year, starting with two key encounters since we've been back this fall.  On two unrelated occasions, we were able to sit down with beloved church members to work through and minister deliverance in areas of bondage in their lives. Praise God for His Spirit who moves us to confession and repentance and works to restore us by the power of His Word.  Pray for more of these times - that we may all be delivered from evil - just as Jesus prayed.     Training seminar for children's workers at this church: Eliaquim. It was an edifying and powerful time as they were touched by Father's heart for young ones. Jocelyn (above) & Karla: two more testimonies.  Karla started volunteering in Twist in 2023, but after star...
